Offbeat Fridays – The thread where offbeat headlines become front page news
Tildes is a very serious site, where we discuss very serious matters like chrome, users and wicked. Tags culled from the highest voted topics from the last seven days, if anyone was researching.
But one of my favourite tags happens to be offbeat! Taking its original inspiration from Sir Nils Olav III, this thread is looking for any far-fetched offbeat
stories lurking in the newspapers. It may not deserve its own post, but it deserves a wider audience!

I know it says it wasn't clear how he was caught. But they absolutely talked about it.
Civil and criminal defense lawyers, sing a song called Please Shut Up? Another Tildes member posted this a while back and it's pretty catchy :)

Avoid socializing by pretending to use your phone?
Obviously the pew study didn't take into account riding public transportation 13 years after this study.
Myself I've used it for running commentary of passengers that forgot that in the year of lord, 2024, there are great inventions like HEADPHONES!! while maintaining a smile that only hides my tears!
I am pretty sure that if redone, the percentage would be higher, much higher!
A Pew study; 13% of cell owners have pretended to use their phone in order to avoid interacting with people around them
