As I mentioned in Week 1, I basically swore off my Miami Dolphins in favor of my Washington Commanders. But then I saw how close the score was against the Bills. Back when the Patriots weren't a joke, the Dolphins would occasionally win against the Pats. And it would be hilarious because the Dolphins had no business winning such a game. So my thinking was that maybe the Dolphins could serve a similar role against the Bills.

I tuned into the game and not 5 minutes in Tua threw an interception. I turned off the game, reaffirmed in my decision to ignore the Dolphins for the season. It was the most on-brand Miami Dolphins fan moment of my life.

But anyway, Commanders played well. Especially considering Jayden Daniels was out.

I'm in a weird place. I swore off the Steelers because they signed Rodgers. I'm actively boycotting American companies and products and have realized few things are more wrapped in Americana than the NFL. If I'm not going to watch "my team" then I guess it's not too much further to go to boycott the whole thing.

Sorry to go political. It's a weird thing to reconcile.

Understandable. The hardest things to boycott or take a stand against are the comfort things that have been in your life forever. That's football for me. And quite a few books, shows, movies, etc....

Understandable. The hardest things to boycott or take a stand against are the comfort things that have been in your life forever. That's football for me. And quite a few books, shows, movies, etc. that turned out to be created by horrible people, unfortunately.

I usually skirt things a bit by pirating them, and the NFL is no different. I guess it's bit like trying to have my cake and eat it too, so I'm not sure I'm really accomplishing anything. It is indeed a weird thing to reconcile.

That's fair. I would agree that pirating and not spending money on something gets you close enough that it works in my mind. Football is similar. 30 years of my life has been spent as a fan. What...

Football is similar. 30 years of my life has been spent as a fan. What do people even do on Sundays without football?

First of all, I commend your commitment to your values. However, should you decide that the heart wants what it wants, or get struck with a fatal dose of nihilism, then you can rest a little easier knowing the Steelers aren't all that bad. It's become twisted over time as the franchises have become insanely valuable, but the Steelers are one of only a handful of teams that aren't controlled by some gigantic evil corporate entity.

You probably already know this, but for those who somehow wandered in here and don't - the Rooney family founded the organization for a few thousand bucks and have kept it in the family ever since. Same goes for the NY Giants owners, the Mara family. And if you're reading this and thinking "Rooney? Mara? Rooney Mara? Like the actress?" Yeah. (If you're looking for a new home, you can join your sister in-law organization. You'd be getting in on the ground floor of the Dart era)

The Steelers are also responsible for the Rooney Rule! Ok, so they're not the publicly owned, non-profit Green Bay Packers. You still got a pretty woke team. A mom & pop shop that brought DEI to the league? C'mon. Some of us are stuck loving a team that is owned by The Walton family and Condoleeza fkin Rice I've tried to be a Packers fan, I really have. But the best I can do is have a soft spot in my heart for them. Until that spot metastasizes and takes over the rest, I'm stuck rooting for these evil donkeys. Be thankful for what you've got!

I've been looking over the highlights of the Lions/Ravens last night. I have a hard time staying up after halftime, especially if I am going into the office. When I left, I felt the Lions were generally playing better. Looking at the whole picture now? It was a beating. The score is closer than the rest of the stats say. The Ravens have now lost two big time games where they need to win if they want to win the Super Bowl. They will make it to the playoffs, no problem. The issue is, can they figure out how to get out of their own way and close the game off when it matters?

Don't the Ravens have a habit of staring out slow? I feel like every other year they have a couple bad losses early in the season

Your resident Carolina fan here, and Sunday was a great day! And absolute beating from all three phases and then, when the Falcons could have scored, they found a way to screw it up. If they kept Koo, they would have 3-6 points and not straight goose-egged

I was very happy with the defensive growth over the last two weeks. They have transitioned to a team that can rally to the ball and secure tackles. They got 3 turnovers against a floundering Falcons offense! That's a great sign and I hope they can keep this momentum over the next few weeks.

The offense was okay, but they didn't need to do much. I was happy to see that they were focusing on establishing the run, as that was a strength last year. They didn't turn the ball over and kept grinding it out to minimize the chance of a comeback. I really appreciate keeping the starters in despite the Falcons throwing in the towel in the 4th. This team needed more reps to better gain the timing with one another, and also good practice for maintaining a lead.

Looking ahead to the Pats, I feel we have a good chance. We are evenly matched and this could go either way. I'm hoping we can move to 2-2 and have one of our better starts in recent years.

Giving up 31 points to the Bears lmao, I guess maybe it wasn't the smartest decision to pick a fight with your top defensive player?
