Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix 2024 - Results
JCPhoenix is out today, so I went ahead and filled in!
Bad day for Red Bull on their own track. Max messed up, and Checo is a bit of a Haas sandwich!

I haven't read any punditry about this yet, but if I was Lando I wouldn't feel too bad about the result because it is setting up better results in the future. One of the features of Max's career, before he had such a dominant car, is that it was clear that he would do risky things that could result in contact. This would make many other drivers give him a wide berth which slows them down and is a huge advantage.
So maybe if Max knows that Lando isn't afraid to take both cars out, he won't be so aggressive in blocking.
Agreed, what do Norris, Hamilton, and Leclerc all have in common now? They've raced Max hard enough to make him scramble. As long as Norris keeps up the pressure Max has more to lose in these situations and it won't always fall in Max's favor.
The absolute comedy gold of Max complaining that Norris dive bombing him. Well well well, how the turn tables.
Really hope to see a close race at Silverstone.
I did listen to some of the post-race commentary and it seems that some of the commentators have forgotten how Max won his first WDC.
To me, Max is Lewis from 2021 and Lando is the new Max. I'm excited to see how the rest of the season plays out. It's great that there are 4 (well, 3.5) teams in the hunt for podiums now!
Thanks for doing this @EmperorPenguin!
Finally got around to watching the race last night. Kinda boring til the last ~15 laps. And damn that got spicy.
I do think it was a racing "inchident." Not saying the penalties weren't fair or anything. And certainly sucks that Lando had to retire. But just that those two were going lap after lap after lap trying to pass or keep the other behind...something like this was bound to happen.
I may be a RBR/Honda/Max fan, but I'm ready to see McLaren and Lando start fighting with Max at the front. Hopefully this is a prelude to some exciting racing in the second half of the season.
