Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix 2025 - Results
2 Grand Prix races finished already. I'd forgotten what Shanghai International Circuit looked like; cool track.
Not as exciting as Melbourne, but that's probably because the rain really spiced up AusGP at the end. Some thoughts as I watched:
- Alonso retired due to break issues in Lap 5. Not a great start to the season
- Weird to see Max lose two spots at the start of the first lap and not immediately recover
- Poor Yuki with his broken frontwing. Broke out of nowhere, too. Man just can't catch a break...
- Great little fight between Charles and Max in Lap 53. Max did eventually recover to his starting P4
- Both Haas in the points? Nice! Ocon P7 and Bearman P10
Congrats to Piastri on his 3rd F1 win! I get the feeling we're going to be seeing this McLaren 1-2 frequently. Who's in which position, we'll see. Though with the Ferraris, Russell, and Max also mixing it up up top, this should be a good season.

Ferrari double DSQ incoming? Please stand watch over your friends and family if they're Ferrari fans...
Yeah all 3 disqualified.
Hamilton disqualified
Gasly and Leclerk
the Ferrari radio was a fun highlight of the session. Interesting ply from Lewis to request the swap, if i read that right. Also interesting play to leave Sharl with the broken wing. It’d be a shame if he loses that result for being underweight, though.
Williams also had some interesting ones. Mostly requests for more information. It feels like everybody is breaking in their race engineers… even though they’ve been together for three years, in Albon’s case.
i really thought Max was going to move up a lot. With Yuki starting a campaign to replace Liam, I kind of hope he doesn’t get it. That car is cursed for everybody else. If he is going to get the spot, I hope it’s soon before the car moves even more toward Max’s pointy-hell.
I was half-joking with my family that maybe Marko and Horner are actually protecting Yuki's career by not putting him in the cursed 2nd RB. He's been great in the sister team (even if the White Bulls' strategist are just god awful). If he doesn't pull it off in the 2nd RB, does Yuki's stock fall?
At the same time, I get why he wants the chance. Anyone would want that chance, I think. Plus, literally everyone knows how hard-to-drive the RB is, so if Yuki can't pull it off, maybe he still comes out relatively unscathed. To me, all he needs to do is bring the RB into the midfield and that'd be considered a success, at least at the start.
yeah, i agree with all of this. I think they’re holding him back because of the Honda stuff; but honestly, the protection is an excellent byproduct.
i’m not sure what’s involved, but it’s a shame they can’t have a less-pointy car for the second driver. it seems like max will get his championship but they’ll never get their constructors — which might be the plan. they’re pretty good with hitting the cap anyways, so tunnel-time is more valuable.
Did you catch Stroll during Ted’s Sprint Notebook? it was depressing… he seemed so bored and kind of lonely. Absolutely reading into it, but it’s be great if he was released for 2026 so Yuki could go over with the Honda PU.
I saw that and thought exactly the same thing. The way he sort of meandered into the AM area and then do a sort of double-take over his shoulder, I could almost hear that sort of desperate "Oh, did you call?" as if he was hoping for Ted to be calling him for one of those impromptu Notebook mini interviews Ted sometimes gets into. I don't know if it's just a media narrative though, surely if he were really as bored and over F1 as comments like to make him appear, he'd have just left? I think he just doesn't really come over well on camera, that's all.
my feeling is that Lance is there until the car’s development is on the right path, then he’ll leave and focus on WEC and snowboarding.
poor lance; slow-walking the paddock.
it’s a shame he isn’t in with norris and albon etc.
Wow Lawson having a poor start this season. I guess Checo will start getting more sympathy, apparently that car is too hard to drive for anyone besides Max. Maybe it has too much oversteer or something.
Alternately, there may be a curse on the Red Bull 2nd driver position, sort of like being the defense against the dark arts professor at Hogwarts.
that bit from when Albon was on High Performance is going around again after a mention on Missed Apex — https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-ddEW_jHupA
Just sounds like a terrible car for normal people.
Good points for Haas and Williams following all the disqualifications.
Bortoleto finishing above his teammate even after spinning out right at the beginning? Did Hulkenberg have problems or did Bortoleto just catch up and pass him?
