Pets!

In light of our 4th anniversary here, I believe it is time for another thread on those beloved furry/scaly/feathered friends we all know and are beholden to.

So fellow Tilderinos, share your pets! Photos! Stories! Antics! Attitudes! How they've changed your life! How you've changed theirs!

Been a minute (couple of years), but we have done this before, older posts are below:

    I have three dogs:

    • Gambit, female Staffordshire Terrier mix, 11 years old. Professional couch potato. I think she's starting to go deaf. My first dog I got as an adult; she was about 1.5 years old when I got her from the Dekalb County shelter in Georgia. She's super duper chill and all my friends tell me she's their favorite.
    • Loki, male Australian Shepherd, 9 years old. My agility dog who is less anxious these days thanks to age. I rescued him at 7 months from a couple who didn't understand herding breeds are high-need dogs. He's been training for agility since he was about a year old, and I finally got around to competing with him last year. He earned his first title in February, so his official name is "Loki of Pineview NA" (Novice Agility). He'll do anything for me. <3
    • Jean Grey, female Chihuahua mix, 1 year old. Lil' punk of a dog, haha. She weighs all of 11.5 lbs. I rescued her last year when she was 3-4 months old. She's great at agility when she's able to focus on it, which at her age, is not very often or for very long. She's also the only dog I take on bike rides, because she'll fit in the basket. My partner did not want a third dog, but this one his now his favorite.

I dote on our pair of rescued Siamese-mix cats, Mya (shelter name that stuck) and Sifa (Thai for "azure"). They're now two and three years old respectively, and still full of bouncy youthful energy. They're also on the larger side for female cats, about 6 kg each.

The Girls are neurotically attached to me and the spouse. They were adopted during the COVID-19 lockdowns and don't have much experience of strangers other than noisy repairmen.

The Girls are appealingly photogenic, and slowly losing the various anxieties and behavioral quirks of shelter pets. Sifa is now the grandmistress of Occupy Lap; Mya successfully defends the household against mice, bugs, and visitors.

    We have three dogs!

    1. Chocolate, the mutt, was taken from the streets as a puppy. Was found shivering and diseased under a car. Despite his humble origins, Chocolate is very regal. Highly athletic, energetic, and obsessed with food. Will eat anything you give him except dog food.
    2. Linus is a mini Schnauzer. He got his name from Charlie Brown because he arrived wrapped in a blue blanket. He is a very mature person and always thinks before acting.
    3. I forgot why Miguilin is called like that, I'll ask my girlfriend when she has a minute. He is tiny, some kind of mix, and is always zipping around and jumping like popcorn. He doesn't think much, I believe his brain is the size of a pea. Miguilin is pure emotion. He really likes me for some reason. I'm the only one who can "tame" him. Very hard to photograph, he rarely sits still.
