What did you do this week (and weekend)?
As part of a weekly series, these topics are a place for users to casually discuss the things they did — or didn't do — during their week. Did you accomplish any goals? Suffer a failure? Do nothing at all? Tell us about it!
Yesterday was my grandmother's 100th birthday party!! Her actual birthday was Wednesday. So most of this past week was spent helping with preparations, and then attending the party yesterday. Got to spend some time with my cousins and various extended family members.
I'm on my 7th consecutive week of Al-Anon meetings. I like it. Now I just need enough courage to go to AA as well. Any other double winners out there?
I’m a double winner who has been trying to get up the courage to go to Al-Anon. There’s a double winner meeting about 40 minutes from where I live, but I haven’t made it there either. I do go to a lot of AA meetings, which has been incredibly helpful to me beyond just the drinking problem.
Interesting, thanks for sharing.
AA is what I really need - alcohol indeed ran my household and my parents growing up, so Al-Anon has been helpful to unpack some of that. But I still feel scared to go to my first AA meeting because I'm still on the shore of being able truly admit my problem. But! I admit this is a process I've been working at for years. I'm on the shore now, but I was in the jungle a couple years ago. Progress is progress.
I hope you make it to the DW meeting sometime, friend - the folks at my meeting immediately welcomed me as one of their own. They gracefully let me get closer to "the feeling" - the feeling that community is what makes things worth it, and that none of this has to be taken on alone.
The good thing is that you know it’s there if you ever decide to go. It’s probably easier for me to go to the double winners meeting because I’ll probably see at least a familiar face or two, and I’ll be able to check Al-Anon out in that context instead of going to a straight Al-Anon meeting. I’ll let you know if I make that meeting. I’m sitting here seriously considering it as I plan my week. Here’s to progress!
Last night I played MTG Draft for the first time. I had a blast, though I only managed two losses and a draw. I enjoy the deck crafting on the spot, it's an art.
Today my kid and I went to a birthday party, spent three hours at the park, and topped off the day with a trip to the carnival in town. What a day!
Tomorrow I'll be doing a MTG Commander event and then D&D night with my friends.
Only four more Mondays until I have the summer off!
This weekend I spent the weekend alone, my boyfriend came over on Saturday for a couple hours and we hung/made out. Very nice. Otherwise I spent my week hating on everyone I'm related to, as usual.
I took my nephew to see his first movie in a theater! My sister has sensory issues and has been unable to take him but he's developed a natural curiosity about movie theatres after seeing them in one of his favorite shows (Trash Truck) We went to see the new Mario movie and he absolutely loved it.
Minor Super Mario Galaxy movie spoilers
He was a little disappointed because his favorite character, Daisy, wasn't in the sequel. I had checked beforehand to see if there was post-credit scenes and she appeared in the last one. He was thrilled
According to my sis, the little guy hasn't stopped talking about it. He's already planning another trip next weekend
