Right - but there is a good reason to work on singing out in the ways I described, eg. to work on clarity, build muscle and reduce fatigue, hone an ear for tone quality, build confidence in own instrument capabilities, etc.

I was a young musician once who made things for friends to listen to, but I also recorded them in my closet and sang quiet enough for my parents to not be able to hear. This might not be the exact case, but I think what I want to add is you are worthy and capable of signing out and being proud of what you have! Don't feel like you have to be quiet and make your instrument smaller in order to express yourself!

But yes, of course, singing quietly (and doing it well) is much harder than singing out loudly (and doing it well). But long tones and breath support are the bread and butter that will supercharge either of those

    Very good!

I think the breath support is a key takeaway. Some people are suggesting ways to access more range, but I think frankly the breath support would open up the range you want as well. It might mean standing up straight, shoulders relaxed, chest supported; it might be a deeper breath, and longer phrases before taking another one; and it might mean singing out like you're trying to knock a paper plate off a windowsill across the room. I think the emotional soul of the lyrics and the lilt in the melodic phrasing makes this super memorable and sweet and cerebral. Quiet, breathy singing might be the style, but that kind of singing still requires a full breath! Breathe!!!!

I have a music ed degree in k-12 band, so I'm not a choir teacher. But I hope you keep making music, you sound great!!!!

I agree with this. "The ______ is a tool," okay, the Internet is also a tool, and we immersed ourselves in it without regulation and without safety rails and true understanding, and it largely feels like it's been a change to society like the way I get on a bucking bull and feel a change in my body's tension and release.

AI is a tool and it can be spun to be good or bad varying its use - but at the end of the day consent was manufactured and we all were busy raising our families and working to question the domino. But I think writing and discussion like this proves some of us want to stop more dominos from falling.

I cynically feel annoyed with the comments here because they echo the same kind of sentiment when reddit closed their guard and shut out the Reddit is Funs and baconreaders, lot of people (including me) found new homes in tildes.

But I guess I'm just more mad that we didn't get the critical mass in that first wave of public outcry to *kill reddit.

Another notch that sucks. I am also realizing that this comment really didn't contribute to anything other than my vent so I apologize for the negativity. Thank you though, for reading

    Cairn

Finally started Cairn based on someone's comment in one of these threads like 3-4 months ago. It's delightful. I appreciate the intersection between survival and climbing puzzle. Finding the right nooks and crannies makes for some deliberate, sometimes frustrating, but cozy-focused gameplay. I did put it down to play something more cinematic when I had a few drinks the other night, guess I pulled out Expedition 33 for that itch.

    Clair Obscur E33

It's fine. I'm at level 15. It's good. I am playing it now before finishing Cairn because I am pessimistically dismissive of E33 for its allegations of AI, and there is something in the finished product concerning its depth of field, fog, and environment design that makes it hard to see almost anything. And I kind of want to get it's mileage before it's too far out of the zeitgeist.

I've had to mod it down a little just to see some clarity, but feel guilty for reducing the artists' original intention.

But I find the gameplay pretty tasty nonetheless, but for how long, we will see

Live at Red Rocks '22 - King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

I'm echoing someone on reddit, but it is masterfully mixed as far as bootleg live albums go.

"The River" was the first track I heard off it and it goes absolutely buckwild. Little quotes here and there, the 5/4 time signature lets them Wah, Wah themselves little nuggets and references only to then later in the set (or maybe day 2 or 3 of the residency) turn around and play Wah, Wah for real. If you're a king gizzard fan and haven't seen them live... it's like how jazz music will quote music from a greater repertoire, but king gizz does that while also cheekily quoting their own discography and while it makes for supreme listening, it also is just a lovely little easter egg for listeners who know the material enough while not robbing the casual listener.

That was my experience seeing them 9-1-24 in Chicago - it's the same experience with any live album you'll find out there of theirs.

    Love those blokes

As always, art direction on point.

As always, I have tons of question about the story which is currently being slowly revealed, which is fine. I just gotta get through my 9 to 5. Lol

A game like God of War 2018 and Ragnarok had just enough appeal to me to want to 100%. I normally never had a penchant for difficulties to surmount, but when you find a game you like and you're good at--it becomes almost the reason for playing the game and I like that.

2018 and Ragnarok had some exploration that I found a little frustrating to reach, but it was the promise of a good fight and the promise that every fight would funnel me towards the right upgrade and skill development to take on the Valkyries in 2018 or the Berserkers in Ragnarok, that made each achievement or unlock worth it.

Interestingly on games like Ghost of Tsushima or Horizon Zero Dawn, there's just too much to explore for me to get every bit. The lore is interesting, but it's not enough for me to push my joystick to every single square foot.

I'll say, it looks like the most ordinary release I think I've seen. I can't help but see something like Splinter Cell Conviction with more color. I'm mildly interested but am going to wait until its on sale.

Before I had ever seen that episode of Black Mirror, I had been checking out a Rhode Island musician, Gavin Castleton, who at the time was experimenting with different sounds and rapping styles and put out this song that sampled that end speech into the song's intro. A song built on the anxiety of a burgeoning internet, the floodgates of reaction images "my malaise don't fit in the animated gif, I have feelings that can't be expressed with kittens." Anyway, you get to hear some of the speech of fifty million merits and also get a little pop banger to chew on, if anyone is interested.

He calls it his pop album, but it's indie for all intents and purposes

I think a corporation or billionaire can do or say whatever they want, their intentions are pretty much nulled by the system they inhabit. Saying "we should do something" and then quietly doing something else is pretty normal for people or companies in power, anyway.

It seems to me like it's an oligarchical smokescreen above anything. Bezos might say "end world hunger" or like he recently said, "poorer people just shouldn't pay taxes" while he doesn't pay any as the richest man — the trueness or falseness of a claim should be met with judgement, like most things. But greed is huge, so predicting the kinds of chaos that they can pay for is difficult

Edit: This comment didn't contribute at all, I'm just alone with the same thoughts. How can I start to dictate my unfeelings on the nature of man, and the state of the world?

It was a Supernatural boss fight. Pushing and tables breaking and dramatic looking and low budgets. I am fine with it too, because I loved supernatural, but I'm also fine with people hating it because it was kind of embarrassing.

I honestly wanted homelander to become a bagboy or something, and then gets hit by a car or something that would've put him in someone else's shoes.

But if the thru line is that Homelander is like an unfettered Trump, then the design was to get our dictator to debase himself on camera which is supposed to be what we're to take away as the solution to these dictators? Having them grovel?

Maybe. But all I am saying is we could've taken this fight to space or at least through a couple of mountains before ending up in the white house playing WWE.

Same position here. Overcome with all the feelings of "If I just would've had more money we could've kept trying." But as someone on this site told me once, "it's better to let them go a day too early than a day too late." You did the hardest thing, but it was still important.

I'm sorry for your loss friend; carrying that grief just means you loved fiercely and the memories are evidence of that.

Just an absolute blast. So easily I am pulled into the game design. I need darkness to unlock more death defiance -- ooh! But I need gems to unlock certain floors that would really help me -- ooh, but if I complete the ancient scroll for this equipment I get 4 diamonds, which I can use for this NPCs storylin--

I really enjoy the feeling of "okay this run is just going to be for gems" or "this boon combo feels unfuckingstoppable, this is going to be the run."

I finally got to the final boss and lost in the 2nd phase but I am determined to get back there.
