It was sounding like the lease had a pretty gnarly rate. I mean like 6 years of no-rent should have more than made up for that, but once you've been spoiled like that, have fun with the $2000 a month

I'm no writer, so I can't write a compelling review of this video. But I can say, i thought the video was great, but the thesis does lack, but understandably so- we are living in a period where genocide is happening live, we can see it with our eyes, and the wheel or racism continues to crush. Perhaps the essay is an exasperated summary of how it feels to be so armed and prepared with knowledge, as a civilian, yet helpless to dismantle entire systems of racial disparity on our own

    The Road to Jonestown

Beautiful, sober, diligent accounting for the Peoples Temple and Jim Jones.

Informative, well paced. I feel like it accounts for everything; importantly too, because insight into the socialization of groupthink and people believing they were building a better world, especially one rife with social and racial disparities, is very interesting.

You can see the actual good being accomplished, but it's always being performed behind Jones alternative motives.

    Fascinating!

It just feels weird to me reading articles like this. "the economy is doing better than we think" is all well and good for the economy, but it cleverly makes it a sum of its parts, and forgets about the people sucking the scum at the bottom.

I'm sure the people reading might relate to its message, but it seems too saccharine anyway; homeless people lining our soup kitchens. Foster homes full, traumatized children growing up to live in prisons.

You cannot work full time, minimum wage, and live alone, while meaningfully preparing for your future. You certainly can't if you are a single parent raising children.

But we will see authors burn calories to try and frame our systems as "we're doing alright!" I would like to see more active advocacy for the groups of people who literally cannot speak for themselves.

We are not doing alright until everyone is. Or rather, til everyone has the opportunity to be alright. And articles like this just make me feel like I'm supposed to get over my woes—without any action. As if saying the status quo is better than what my fears are signaling, so I can relax.

Disagree! Cognitive dissonance is where we can break the cycle, where we can wake up and progress to more equity and understanding.

God of War: Ragnarok - Give Me God of War

It's kicking my freaking ass right now, gang. Such a beautiful way to play though, imo. It's filled with frustration and near tears and got damn. But I'll say it's caused me to slow down, plan my moves, and appreciate the scenes more (mainly cause I'm stuck on the same level for days at a time).

If you played GoW2018, and beat Sigrun, you know the feeling of exhalation when you finally won. I'm getting that same relief every time I size up a Berserker in this game, only I have 7 more fuckers to go. Only like 2/3 thru the main story!
I'm not a professional, but it makes me feel really good to work at something and (eventually) overcome it!

I want to get to Valhalla too, but I fear it'll be a while... Lol

I am not the brightest bulb in the bunch, but I read this article before seeing the Atlantic headline. Leaving the substack article, I genuinely believed the vitriol. Call it Poe's Law. But I walked away feeling that someone could resonate with it in a truly serious manner. And then I see the Atlantic article about it and I felt there was even more clarity there.

The Atlantic JUST shared an article about Substack's white nationalist problem, lol. This article feels similarly unhinged and unsure of its own satire.

I love the introspection on most of these comments. I think it's great that if you feel predisposed to an altered state being a negative influence on your genes, you avoid it. That's strength. Some folks here have described the opposite, and I will say my addiction to cannabis hits that right on the head.

I chased that cannabis dragon. As much as it "isn't physically addicting," it can make you think you really need it to function. And after 10+ years of smoking thru every major event of my 20s, and not hardly being able to remember any of it, I really feel a piece of myself missing.

Also you grieve it! When I cut back (I still am not off the stuff) I grew so fucking depressed cause I just wanted to be stoned all the time. When you live on a cloud, the ground just feels cold, at first.

I will add though that mushrooms and LSD were game changers for me.

The altered states for these two had more beneficial aspects than I ever expected. The dissolving of social boundaries and the subsequent rebuilding of your status quo in the wake of an ego death should be researched before making any hard-line statements of avoidance. I have come out of trips realizing things about myself that i never would have otherwise. I have come out of trips realizing I actually had the strength to fight addiction. I have come out of trips realizing that we're all one love, and that my behavior needs changing.

As they put it in The Midnight Gospel, "there's no such thing as a bad drug; it's the circumstances!"

A rather cooly syncopated techno album. I love it. I don't think I've touched the shortened versions at all minus the first 3 singles. The extended versions have all the depth, the musical lore, the elaboration of "endless boogies," as the singer Stu put it. Some lyrical tie ins to Petrodragonic Apocalypse, some new incredible imagery of the astral self and Gods afar. Catchy, with purpose, with zeal!

They are killer. Saw a blurb describing them as "out of the psychadelic tar pits" and it nailed it. I've listened to Data Doom and Monsters Eating People Eating Monsters... Both bring me back to my adolescent bliss, it's punk, it's psychadelic, it's thrash, it just freaking jams.

I'm just not a fan of the trifold. I've worked cash registers before and the triple bends make it frustrating to hold, count, and store in registers when it's shaped like a half pipe. And yeah, we could face all the bills down, but sometimes there's not time to organize the bills, they just get thrown in and you hope you balance end of day. My 2¢, literally

    CONVERGE!

Truly an incredible love letter to metal. Gizzard does not miss. But they're so prolific, they do everything. I just finished digesting Paper Mache Dream Balloon, it's so cute, poignant, and introspective. Found myself dancing, looking at myself in the mirror, and asking questions. All evoked from a stumpy little thing that boasts a good flute, clarinet, and generally acoustic accoutrement.
