Where's the line? I created a popular thread about vetting 24 or so hours ago, and a new one was posted today. It's actually above the new thread when sorting by activity, but I didn't want to...

I don't know where "the line" is. I'm not sure that Tildes has an official policy on this (or even if it ever will). However, for me, it comes down to a combination of timing, visibility, and...

However, for me, it comes down to a combination of timing, visibility, and similarity. In the case of this question, the previous question is less than 24 hours old, it's still visible on the front page of this group, and the new post is exactly the same as the previous one. There's no different angle, no new insight. It is almost word-for-word the same question. There's really no reason to post exactly the same question when the previous question is still current, still visible, and still active.
In your case, that second post is different. You asked for opinions about vetting. You started a discussion. That second post didn't repeat your topic. It has a different angle than your post: it's just a simple image-based declaration about one particular redditor. If I was the boss, I'd remove it for being shallow rather than for being a re-post.
I could've sworn when I replied this was in ~tildes. That was the only reason I mentioned the other thread was in ~talk. Either I'm going crazy or @Deimos moved it before deleting it. Or maybe...

Either I'm going crazy or @Deimos moved it before deleting it. Or maybe both. *shrug*
Huh. Well, I have a distinct memory of looking at the address bar and seeing ~tildes. Yeah, I dunno, maybe I'm losing it. That's literally the only reason I included the "In ~talk" portion. Weird.

:( So I guess we're going the stack exchange route. If it's already been asked, link back to the original. I'm not saying that's good or bad, but just a wee bit sad cuz I thought it was a good...

I'm not saying that's good or bad, but just a wee bit sad cuz I thought it was a good discussion question and hadn't realized it'd been asked before.
I think the main problem is not that this question has been asked before, but that it was asked only yesterday. That previous discussion is still current and active, and it's still on the front...

I usually say something close to til-duh or til-dah. Then when people just can't get it I say "hold shift and hit the squiggly button under the escape key."

There's a pretty active topic about this posted less than a day ago over on ~talk:

What's appropriate vs. not?

Completely agree. This makes sense.
I could've sworn when I replied this was in ~tildes. That was the only reason I mentioned the other thread was in ~talk.

I looked for the Topic Log before I replied to you. There was no Topic Log, so nothing had been done to this post (no moves, no tags, no edits).

I always said TIL-DEE but apparently I'm wrong.
