It was super weird seeing activity after he passed. For example, about 3 months after the Venmo request I had to him was cancelled and I got a notification. That was a sobering moment when I looked down and saw that.

I understand the phenomenon where you learn about something and then see it everywhere (Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon), but this doesn’t really qualify IMO. This is certainly not something brought up or mentioned very much to begin with.
For those curious, it was an Office quote, when Dwight is listing the companies interested in his meat product that takes meat from horses and doesn’t kill them.

I saw that there was a post that was deleted (“topic removed by user” was the text in red up top I believe), but I can still go and see the post via navigating old commmets. It just doesn’t show in the main post feed.
Is this by design?

Comment on In cases of school shootings, should the parent who owned the weapon be charged with a crime? in ~talk

In those cases and the kid got his hands on the gun anyway, it wouldn’t have mattered if they took extra steps IMO. They’d find a way to get a gun one way or the other.
But if there’s a case where a parent has a gun lying on the floor in the TV room and their 10 year old puts it in their bag and takes it to school, yes that is negligent. And it’s on the parent.
I think age of the child plays a big role. 14 and under, its all on the parents likely.

If they can’t control it, it can’t be gamed.
So maybe there is no point to badges here.

I don't know, what else makes sense?

There’s a reason Deimos just removed that argument from the post, it’s just not a good look for us.

Honestly no good can come from publicly negging someone, which could lead to an argument, and overall negative attention.
Imagine if that happened to a TD user and they decide to brigade us?
There’s no reason imo to not just ignore the unworthy (ah yes the elusive triple negative!).

And that bear can bring more attention and potentially brigade. If they do that, I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard for one or two to slip thru.

I think that the Tildes community will differentiate itself from reddit by doing this, as hypocritical as I may sound right now. Let’s hope at least, that’s why vetting users is so important at this stage.
Getting myself back into reading now. Just finished Slaughterhouse 5. Just bought The Sun Also Rises, and will also be cracking open Breakfast with Einstein.
This gives a pretty nice summary of what type of stuff I'm into so recommendations are appreciated!
