Yesterday was my daughter's 15th birthday - I made an Oreo Cheesecake and we played jackbox games, and had a zoom birthday party. It was pretty great.

Probably get fired from my second job as an IT Admin next week. Company was very much against adopting more stringent security measures when I started handling things for them a couple years back and eventually I just shrugged my shoulders and said fuck it figuring that in time they would pay some sort of price. Well that moment came over the last week when Chinese scammers cracked a Global Admin account on their Office 365 tenant and used that to read and send emails as the owner to the comptroller and convinced her to wire a great deal of money into bank accounts owned by the scammer.

So I'm finally getting the chance to implement more security (basic shit like MFA), which is what I spent the end of this week feverishly doing, but they are ultra focused on trying to get the money back, so its been hard to get them to take it very seriously. But I suspect once they realize that the money is not coming back, the hammer is going to come down on myself and the comptroller as I'm the most obvious and easiest person to blame and she actually transferred the funds.

I'm tempted to quit before it happens. Not sure what I'm going to do. Regardless I shouldn't be in charge of anybody's network but my own as I'm a web developer by trade. Going to be a rough week no matter which way it goes.

My father took me to a clinic to take the X-ray I talked about last week. The day I'm going to the dentist to see what that X-ray means is later however. My father noticed some teeth way back in my mouth, which is probably wisdom teeth (which is normal to appear at my age, thankfully.)

I had a headache once, which by shutting up my imagination and taking away my desire to lurk here ironically gave me a great, or rather healthy night of sleep.

I decided that, to fix my problem of not being allowed to put accounts from multiple email addresses in the 'vault', I just put them on another vault in KeePass, another password manager I installed. So now I have a password manager for my main, more important accounts tied to my Gmail address and a password manager for alt and less important accounts tied to my protonmail address.

Big Sur is bulky... but on this late 2013 15" it's working really well. One bummer is that I can't run Foobar2000 in Wine. I only use it on this system for renaming files and fixing ID3 tags before sending them off to my NAS. Other than that, everything has gone smooth. I've got a few more things tomorrow, but most of the automation (mostly w/ Fuse and Watchman) and general setup is covered. I skipped Catalina because I wanted to do a clean install, but figured that the minor tweaks and such would kill me.

It hasn't. I backed up almost everything I needed (I forgot a folder of processing scripts for media, but I can rewrite those.) yabai (a twm) is smoother. Other than that, they lowered the boot up chime's volume, which is probably the best part of the whole thing.

Tomorrow I'll have to fix up a bunch of conditions for the twm so it doesn't tile absolutely everything like now, which is annoying.

... and and 5:35am I am finally off to bed and closing a dozen tabs. :)

I have been too busy to do anything of value. At work I feel I am doing nothing (largely because I feel so exhausted I'm actually trying to avoid real work - which right now is full of clerical stuff that bores me to tears), and all of that nothing is preventing me from doing the work I need to be doing for school, and yesterday my entire afternoon was eaten up by a sudden meeting for a group we have formed for doing the final project. This took so long I didn't have the time to finish the stuff I was supposed to be doing so I have two late assignments which will have 10% taken off as a result.

Not to mention that this group has been formed for nearly two weeks without us actually doing anything and the final project is due in three weeks. We're making a video, so it's fairly involved.

I haven't been sleeping well and I'm so incredibly tired. :(

I adopted a puppy from a local rescue! She’s a four month old, 6.5 lb Chihuahua mix of some kind. Absolutely cute as a button, very outgoing, and super smart. All her basic skills are coming along...

    Here’s the whole crew: https://i.postimg.cc/BvVBd3wY/120-A8-C82-E9-C9-443-E-9439-F0-FE9-E09-E0-A1.jpg
