These "heavy tweeters" account for less than 10% of monthly overall users but generate 90% of all tweets and half of global revenue.
A "heavy tweeter" is defined as someone who logs in to Twitter six or seven days a week and tweets about three to four times a week, the document said.
Cryptocurrency and "not safe for work" (NSFW) content, which includes nudity and pornography, are the highest-growing topics of interest among English-speaking heavy users, the report found.
At the same time, interest in news, sports and entertainment is waning among those users.

I guess by that metric I was a "heavy tweeter" at one point. Ultimately stopped partially because I just saw zero interaction with my tweets. I had around 100 followers and would maybe get a single Like, maybe a comment here and there. But 90% of what I tweeted got zero interactions. Compare that to Facebook where I could post pretty much anything and get a bunch of likes/comments with roughly the same amount of friends.
And I'm not super needy, whining about needing likes/comments for validation. It's more that it feels pointless to basically talk to myself. I can do that offline, tyvm.
At one point I had two thousand followers and would only on average get like 10 likes and one reply per tweet. Every now and then I’d have a tweet go viral but that was definitely not the norm.

Gambling (which crypto is) and porn have become a scourge. I'm all for letting people live and let live, but it seems like these two industries have a way of insinuating themselves into every nook and cranny you let them and crowd out everything else if you don't draw a hard line to box them in.
Considering it's looking like Elon Musk really will be owning Twitter soon, I can only consider this to be a good thing. Honestly, I can only imagine it'll accelerate once he's at the helm.
