What sleep monitoring apps would you recommend?
I'm looking for something to track my sleep automatically and hopefully record when I sleep talk.

Sleep as Android. I've probably used it nearly every night for the last decade.

I also use this app every night. It helped me troubleshoot when I was snoring and fix my sleep routines. Highly reccomend.
That app made me purchase pebble, unfortunately as the company went out of business I no longer can use it, and never made it work fitbit...
I really like AutoSleep, actually it got close to the results I had after a polysomnography. I use it with my Apple Watch, and there is no Android version, though.
I second this. I use AutoSleep and their companion apps AutoWake and HeartWatch. HeartWatch is a general fitness/activity tracker and AutoWake is for smart alarms. I can set my watch up to wake me after a certain amount of sleep or at a set time, but it also allows you to set it so it only wakes you in light sleep within a certain amount of time of your wake up time.
I have been using sleepcycle since around 2014 and it is literally the only sleep and alarm app I’ve found that works for me. I’ve had it so long that I’m grandfathered in as a lifetime user, which was an option they had before switching to a subscription model for their premium.
I've got SleepCycle on my Android phone, but I've recently swapped to iPhone. I've emailed them to see whether I can transfer my grandfathered plan from my Android phone to iPhone, and they've said it's not possible. Maybe I'll give them another email to see what they say now that it's been a couple years.
But SleepCycle is absolutely fantastic, and definitely one that I highly recommend.
It's definitely worth a shot, although when I had my android phone I really didn't mind paying because it's worth it imo, but now that I'm back to an iPhone I have my lifetime access again.
I have a Withings Steel. It tracks my sleep, and their app & visualizations for this functionality are quite nice. I’m not really into smartwatches, much prefer something more analog, so the Withings has been a decent compromise.
(Actually I’ve had it long enough that I got it when they were Withings, had it through their stint under Nokia, and still have it now that they are Withings again 😆)
I've been using Sleep Cycle for a few years now, the past couple of years with a premium account. I really like it!
I used Sleep as Android for a while, but found it annoying to have to actively start and stop sleep sessions.
Personally, I got better, more consistent results after getting a wearable fitness device. I got a Fitbit Luxe, but I suspect any modern tracker would do well. I did do some online research before settling on the Luxe; part of what led me to settling was a positive review from The Quantified Scientist on YouTube.
Those of you whom regularly track your sleep, I'm genuinely curious as to the reasons you do so and what you gain from tracking it carefully?
For me it helps me realise my sleep habits and how they affect me. Feeling like shit today? Oh, looks like I didn't sleep well last night. Maybe I should go to bed earlier tonight.
To be honest I don’t get anything out of it except some nice graphs and ratings showing how bad my sleep is 😆. But I find it interesting. I don’t really actively track it, just check sometimes if I feel like shit that day and it usually is pretty clear in that graph why I feel terrible :)
I just use a relatively cheap Amazfit Band 5.
I normally use an Apple Watch during the day and whilst that's charging overnight I wear the Amazfit to monitor my sleeping; although it's a generic fitness tracker I use my Apple Watch for that and literally just use the Amazfit as a sleep tracker and it works pretty well and accurately in my experience.
