Seems this really hasn’t caught on yet. Even the trend chasers I know don’t have folding phones.
I tried one for a while before returning it. Samsung Z Fold 4. It was actually a really fun phone, playing Genshin Impact and emulators on it was sick.
Ultimately what made me return it was the lower-end camera setup (it was a downgrade from my S22 Ultra) and being absolutely terrified of getting sand in it (I lived near the beach at the time, and we were there a lot)
Also the front screen was pretty thin on the Fold 4 - it seems like newer models are a bit better about this though.
I love mine, but the more I use it the more I am used to just using the front screen and not unfolding it at all haha. I'm kind of at the point where I think I might as well just get a regular phone again.
I'd really like to try one but not at the prices they're offered at
I do see a trend of gen z using flip phones. Definitely not these types of flip phones though.
I've been backing off on needing the latest and greatest but I have to say my z fold 5 is amazing. I definitely use the front screen more but the ability to unfold and get a tablet experience when needed has been a real boon. I'm cautiously optimistic about the longevity of the internal screen, but waiting for 5 generations of r&d has to help.
It's probably not for everyone, I'm a case user and that turns it into a pocket drooping brick, but I really like the versatility it offers. (Having the option of two different home screens is nice, too)
I've seen some in the wild. People don't love them though.
