Does anyone have experience using both github and gitlab for project/issue/wiki use? How do they really compare? GitHub only "recently" added projects, but they also have the hosted gh-pages which is a nice easy way of hosting SPAs for "free" which is awesome.

GL doesn't look like it has that, but gold/enterprise GL look like they have many of the features of atlassian products similar to confluence and jira. Trying to convert my company to try GitLab and the enterprise features. I also want to use it for a non-profit side gig. Thoughts?

GitLab has GitLab Pages too, which as far as I'm ware is virtually identical to GitHub's offering, but also offers HTTPS support. https://about.gitlab.com/features/pages/

That's interesting. I was just talking with some people about how great GitHub Education Pack is (I'm basically using digital ocean because of them), so GitLab providing their service for free for lazy students like me is a pretty cool thing to do!

GitHub education pack is great! I've been using it for private repos for a while now. What are you using digital ocean for? Edit: Education pack not developer pack

I'm only running a bot for a discord server at the moment, but it was great to learn about exchanging private keys and public keys. I remember getting locked out from ssh because I copied the private key, not the public key. I'm actually still a bit confused about how ssh keys work. I also planned to use it to host my webpage, but I got lazy to set everything up, since I planned to use Hugo for my site. If I stop being lazy I'll probably get it done haha.

GitLab is really taking advantage of the Microsoft buyout. I'm very excited to see what GitLab does next, so far they've done everything right to entice users who want to move over.

For a non-programmer, is there any use i might have for Gitlab? I'm aware of using github pages to host websites, but anything else?
