No RSS feed = not a podcast
Setting aside distribution, what people call a podcast has been heavily diluted in recent years. A lot of YouTube creators started extracting audio from videos and creating a feed with that. I'd argue we're already at a point where filtering these out would be beneficial for finding "traditional" podcasts
Yep, always a little annoying when your podcaster says things like "and if you look at this", or "as you can see here", or even "let me show you this quick video".

I guess it's nice because I get to see what some of the guests look like I suppose. But that could just be a thumbnail or a link to a webpage just as easily.
I know several people in Brazil for whom podcast is video. Traditional podcasts are very niche now. Spotify has video by the way. I tested today on Joe Rogan (not a fan, just testing) and it is...

Spotify has video by the way. I tested today on Joe Rogan (not a fan, just testing) and it is not very good. But it's there.
Even if it wasn’t, I just don’t want my podcasts in the same app as my music. Music and podcasts are fundamentally different activities in my mind. They should not be in the same application. I...
Even if it wasn’t, I just don’t want my podcasts in the same app as my music. Music and podcasts are fundamentally different activities in my mind. They should not be in the same application. I like my apps to be single purpose and be really good at that one purpose. Spotify having podcasts makes it worse for both purposes.

For music streaming, I subscribe to DI.FM which gives access to a slew of other genre tailored stations (Electronic, RockRadio, Radiotunes, Piano, Jazz) and from there, I download MP3s and flacs the old fashioned way for play on a portable android music player (Hiby H300).
It's not an all-in-one solution like Spotify, but this way I can pay other streamers and have control over my music collection.

If a podcast is only available on Spotify, I just won't be hearing it unfortunately, regardless of how intriguing it is.
Agreed. The Spotify app was terrible last time I had time use it, and I eventually just dropped the one podcast that was on it.

What do use or recommend as a Spotify alternative?
