Is it possible you got a rash rather than a burn? No doubt these can burn too, not trying to invalidate your experience/sensations, but the image showed combined with 24/7 wearing and transition from discomfort to burning are more suggestive to me of a rash.

Not that I'd be more like to put up with it if it had given me a rash, but I'd feel better about reselling/passing it on after a thorough cleaning if so since a burn could be indicative of a battery defect.

    Thanks for sharing your experience!

From what I researched, these rashes happen with some people, not all. I'm a lucky one, unfortunately.

That could also be a rash symptom. Hypohidrotic eczema looks like bubbly bumps for example.

I get the same look that you have in your picture when I leave sweat/moisture trapped wearing analog watches too. I have gotten in the habit of taking my watch off any time after I wash my hands to mitigate the chances. How can you be certain it's a burn?

But, I always kept the back of the Watch clean. Every time I detached it, I cleaned the glass area with a microfiber cloth, and after any workout I washed it and left to dry before wearing it again. Maybe some allergy?

WatchOS 26 is so bad I’m selling my Apple Watch. In general the entire ecosystem and OS itself feel abandoned. Something that’s a top 10 iOS app will have major issues on WatchOS.

What I really miss is my Fitbit Charge. Unfortunately, it was the build quality that made me go towards the Apple Watch. My first Fitbit lasted only a year before it started coming apart and then stopped working. I talked to Fitbit about it and they let me buy a Charge 2 for 50% off. But then that lasted only like two years before the sensor housing cracked and moisture/sweat got in, short circuiting the thing. I'm not even that active. I don't really workout. Mostly just used it as a regular digital watch that could track steps and distance. It's just the build quality is poor and the prices aren't exactly in the "cheap disposable" range IMO.

But the Fitbit was all I really needed. The Apple Watch is like overkill for my needs. Yeah I have an iPhone and Airpods and an MBP. I'm in the Apple ecosystem. But Idk. I never really "fell in love" with the Apple Watch in the same way I did with the rest of my Apple products. It's just OK.

The first and only reason why I can't bring myself to put on wearable tech

The fact is that the Apple Watch has become a physical nuisance. It’s always making itself felt, demanding (my) attention. When I took it off my wrist on the 20th...

For me, it was down to the fact that it hurt my wrist to wear it tight enough to get any sort of measurable health data, having no real use for the health data that I was gathering, and then having to take it off for a week because I developed a rash there and realizing I preferred not having it on. The only thing I really miss about it was that it was actually excellent as an alarm/reminder. Having my wrist buzz very slightly to remind me of things was the most effective productivity tool I’ve ever had in my life.

But the scars that left on my wrist (not literal scars, but there is a ghost of where the Watch used to sit on my wrist that still hasn’t gone away months later; changing the lay of my arm hair, a slight constriction in the wrist where the band sat; a slight divot where the sensor used to press into the top of my wrist) were enough to justify not continuing to wear it.

I wore mine for about three years over two or three different versions. But selling it back to Apple was the smartest thing I’ve done in a while. I’m looking for something that’s as effective for reminders and notifications as that, but less damaging, but whatever it’s going to be it’s not going to be a watch.

My last Apple Watch was the Series 3 and there's basically nothing that could convince me to buy one again. I fundamentally dislike the experience. They don't look as nice as a watch at half the price, I hate being badgered by notifications, turn directions, and infantilizing reminders to stand or breathe. Tracking runs and tap to pay were the only uses I sort of liked — and I'm just not that much of a runner. At least I've only been called 'whack' once for not having one.

Newer versions allow you to disable a lot of that, but in my experience only the health stuff like standing and breathing and drinking water actually respects your ask to stop annoying you. And there's something about the lag time between Apple's notifications that towards the end of my time with Apple Watch, I was getting notifications that were days old despite having been dismissed. There's something about the way that I dismiss reminders on iPhone that makes them still pop up on iPad and Watch. The Mac seems to keep up, but having my wrist buzz me about a political money begging text message from three days ago was infuriating.

I have the same issues. Messages app on my iPhone can recognize spam texts, and never alerts me about them. But my Apple Watch will absolutely alert on anything that comes through. I don't get it.

It’s utterly baffling for sure. My HomePods act like they’ve been lobotomized if my iPhone isn’t nearby, but other than initial setup they never interact with my iPhone in any way that I can see....

My HomePods act like they’ve been lobotomized if my iPhone isn’t nearby, but other than initial setup they never interact with my iPhone in any way that I can see. Meanwhile my Watch is meant to be Bluetooth tethered to the iPhone at ask times but it seems to completely ignore the iPhone most of the time. They’re meant to be pair bonded, why do they act like strangers?

I had one for a while, but I’ve ended up back at the Casio F-91W.
