For reference, archive.is and archive.today and archive.ph are all the same service.

It was discovered by moderator u/spoiled__princess today that archive.today had injected malware links into an archived article page. This is obviously a problem. To protect members of the community we will be automatically removing posts using this archival service with automoderator. A message will be posted to the thread informing the poster of the reason.

Previous discussions on Tildes, of previous (and ongoing?) misbehavior by the operators of archive.today/archive.is/etc, leading to it being banned as a source on Wikipedia:

Another relevant link from a previous incident in 2019, where archive.is blocked all users of Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 DNS resolver: Does Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 DNS Block Archive.is? No, Archive.is’s owner is intentionally blocking 1.1.1.1 users.

There’s some good discussion in the thread about alternatives. Someone said GhostArchive looks to be run by the same operator of Archive.today. Another poster recommended Wallhop which I hadn’t heard of before. I can’t vouch for it or corroborate the other claim, but I’m glad these discussions are happening.

Another comment recommended Bypass Paywalls Clean which I can vouch for and highly recommend, but my recommendation always has to come with a ton of disclaimers because the only way to get it is via a sketchy Russian GitHub clone (due to DMCA takedowns back when it was distributed on reputable western sites IIRC).
