I find it so strange that a majority of the people in those movements seriously seem to think that they could win a civil war where logically, the government would deploy the US military on it's own soil. At that part, the USA would've already failed as a nation, but I still don't think they could win. Most of the people (and I'm only spitballing here) usually do not have a military career, they know how to shoot a gun, but they aren't in the best body shape to go into active combat and they've got no clue about military tactics.

While true that the past has shown that conventional militaries have issues dealing with unconvential (read: guerilla) warfare, I can't imagine that the US military wouldn't have learned from past lessons like Vietnam, especially if the theater of war is home soil and not a nation on the other side of the planet.

Do keep in mind that the US military might not be completely unified in a civil war. Deserters are almost a guarantee. Add in that for the first time in forever, the actual supply base of the US would be in the war zone. You can't fly in more stuff, if the stuff factory is in the war zone.

An actual civil war would be a bloodbath, but not because the uprising would be butchered quickly. Rather, my crystal ball tells me it would be a quick and relatively bloodless affair if the military and police realize their desparate positions. (For the fighting force it's either risk your life or force the passing of a few new laws. Capitalists, the real interest group behind status quo if you ask me, don't fight wars.) Alternatively, it'll be a long, drawn out bloodbath where both sides quickly fall into a state between those of organized, armed forces in a terrible supply situation and guerilla warfare. The revolution will be able to muster at least limited conventional forces, while the loyalists(anyone got a better term?) will soon fail to maintain their forces properly.

Adding to this point, the US military does not swear any kind of allegiance to the US govt. They swear an oath to defend the US Constitution, against all enemies, foreign and domestic ... and the vast majority of them take that oath very seriously. If there is a convincing argument that the current govt is violating the Constitution in some fundamental fashion, all of a sudden, you've got a real Civil War.

It's well known that a sizable chunk of these dudes are police themselves. They've been infiltrating local PDs for years, as well as Federal ones like CBP and ICE. The FBI used to be fairly filtered out of them, but they've wormed their way in there too. I don't think it will be as decisive as people think. They'd still lose if it comes to that, but what happens on the other side isn't status quo ante, it'll probably be closer to the 60ish years of coup after coup that Latin America has dealt with.

That said, if 50% of the gun owning public got angry enough to support such a thing and 10% of those people were angry enough to pull a trigger, they would still outnumber the standing US military 6 to 1.

I don't know how much of the US population would support an attempted split from the USA to form it's own nation, there's a possibility that people in the bible belt would like to create the Southern States 2: Electric Boogaloo, but realistically, I don't see that working for long, even if the Russia/China began funding them.

He also called for “back-up,” presumably from his followers watching the video. No one came to his aid, and Donny Leeks was killed after firing at officers on May 14th.

This was an interesting read! I've seen the Boogaloo Movement covered briefly in some mainstream sources, but they barely scratched the surface. Traditional journalists never seem adept at finding the roots of online underground movements.
