Waiting period for invite codes?
Not sure if this is already a feature, but I think in keeping with Tildes's philosophy of letting the platform grow (to whatever extent that it may) sustainably, there should be a waiting period of a couple days to a couple weeks between when a new user joins and when they can generate invite codes. This to me seems like an effective way of preventing viral growth and allowing the community to recalibrate or "get a grip on itself" after any new influx of users.
Just did a test. New users don't get invites by default.
Someone else who spends more time here is going to have to weigh in, but I think that's always been the case. You need to be here for a while before you get invites, then to replenish them, last I remembered @Deimos was just manually replenishing people's 10 invites by hand. I think maybe we've gone to a schedule, but idk.

I don’t think there is any set waiting period. I think @Deimos just manually tops people’s invites up. Sometimes individually (when they ask for it) and sometimes to everyone. But there is no set schedule, AFAIK.
I think the only thing with a set waiting period is the comment labels, which new users don’t have access to until 7 days after their account has been created.
Yeah there's a wait period already for new users. Can't remember quite exactly how long it is, I think like a couple of days?
I think it's longer than that. I've been around for about 18 months and just noticed that I had invites earlier this week. It's possible I'm just unobservant, but I don't think it's less than a few months.
Yeah few days isn't correct. I still don't have it.
I got some after about a week from when I registered. Maybe this week everyone got some?
It took me a week or so to get 5 invite codes, I believe the rollout is very slow and may even be based on post engagement
@Deimos gave everyone 5 invite codes a couple days ago as everything at reddit was hitting the fan. So that is most likely where you got your 5 from.
I just noticed that I have codes this morning. Used them all for friends.
There seems to be. I got an invite this morning, and I cannot generate invite codes.
