Feature request: Dark mode!
Dark mode is lovely and would definitely cause me to browse until 5am whenever the insomnia kicks in.
I'd love to help code it if we're going open source! :)

There is also a bunch of user made themes and a great extension by @crius, as well:

I personally use @Bauke's Dracula theme when browsing the site at night. It's lovely.
Do you have link to the dark+green terminal theme? I lost the link.
Yes! Many thanks! : )
I often wonder if there's any FAQ that can truly address all the frequently asked questions, and if so, how can we force people to read it?
There is one:https://tildes.net/~tildes/r5/were_starting_to_see_a_lot_of_repeat_questions_so_let_me_make_an_introduction_to_tildes_post_for
Hasn't been updated lately though.
Now that I am finally done with the latest Official Invite Thread on /r/tildes (and don't plan on making another for a while), I have begun working on updating docs.tildes.net, especially the FAQ section. @amarok already wrote up a massive amount of good stuff for it, I just need to help @deimos organize it now so it can all be added to the official docs. So an update is coming soon... probably in a few days. Hopefully that will help with these repeat questions a bit, or at the very least give people a good place to point new users to when they ask them.
Yeah, no, don't worry, I'm not criticizing you. You don't know any better. That's understandable. Sorry if I came off as hostile or whatever.
It's just, this is in fact, a frequently asked question, to which there's a simple and easily summarized answer. I've always wished there was a way to present this sort of info to a new user.
Sites often try FAQs, but they never work. They're either small enough to digest, but they don't answer your questions because they're incomplete, or they're so comprehensive that no one wants to read them.
Just riffing on the idea that this is a problem all sites face, and still no one has fully solved. Didn't mean to single you out, you're just the latest example, and again, it's totally not your fault. It's a shortcoming in the signup process for communities, imho.
Welcome to the site!
Maybe for popular features that might be not obvious (like dark theme, for example), we can do that walkthrough pop-up thingie for newly registered users.
You can never get people to read the FAQ before asking. But you can point them to it after.
I believe this is a FAQ....
There is a dark mode(along with several other skins). Would it be possible to have tildes remember what skin is selected for a given account? Is there some issue with doing this?
It's per-device right now instead of per-account. Someone suggested having a per-account default that can be overridden on each device if wanted, that seems like a reasonable idea to me.
