I haven’t been able to find it, but the most important part will end up being whether or not it’s renewable. There’s a big rift between “digital nomad” countries where the visas are renewable and not. Portugal’s visa is auto renewing, and there is, for better or for worse, a substantial number of foreign workers truly living there. I wouldn’t be surprised if Japan opts against that.

That’s surprisingly not that much money a lot of the other countries I have seen proposed something like that usually require an income of over 100k

To be eligible for the new status, applicants must have an annual income equivalent to 10 million yen ($68,000) or more, be a citizen of one of 50 countries and regions that have visa waiver agreements with Japan and have private health insurance.

Self-employed people will be eligible for the new status only if they do business for overseas revenue. They will be allowed to bring family members who are covered by private health insurance.

Same. If I were 20 years younger I'd be gone the next day.

Better than the regular 2x 90-day tourist visa (especially since you don’t need to fly out and come back for the second leg), but probably still shorter than most who’d be interested in this would like, at least if there’s no possibility of renewal.

Might be good for someone looking to move there long-term though, since it’d allow them to do stuff over there while still working a job from back home. Dunno what’s legal to do under this visa though so it’s possible that looking for jobs isn’t allowed.
