I enjoyed Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. I don't think I need to see it again, though. If they were telling a different story in the same world, I'd be more interested.

Not to be that guy but... The books are much better than the movie. They take a lot more time and flesh things out. This looks like a more direct adaptation of them, with even more story added in....

While I love the movie, the whole story doesn't fit into a 1-2 hr film. Entire characters are reduced from very meaningful roles down to throwaway gags.

I think it speaks really well to how much the cast and crew must have enjoyed working on the film with so many of them returning for the animated version.

I enjoyed the bass battle in the books so much more (and really all the fleshing out you mention). The trip through Honest Ed's is pure nostalgia, I'd be so happy if that made it through.

          Spoilers...

In the movie, he's repeatedly foreshadowed any time Scott is making a bad choice. But when he finally appears fully to confront Scott, we cut away to them having become pals and planning on getting breakfast.

In the books he's similarly foreshadowed, but he represents Scott's guilt over his past actions.

Scott keeps running from him and fighting him with all his might but it's not until he stops fighting and realizes he needs to accept that yes, he's been a bad person, but he can change, he can become better.

And what happens? Nega Scott fuses with Scott. By accepting and learning from his past mistakes, he becomes a stronger person.

Being somebody who's similarly battling dark feelings and thoughts, it's an important part of the plot to me.

Nega Scott carries just as much, if not more, narrative weight than any of the evil exes.

I hope his plot is brought back for the new series.

Wow, holy crap, I totally forgot about this. Geez, I need to really go re-read the books now.

I think it's interesting. It's a story in the style of a game told through the medium of comics, later adapted to a game, simultaneously adapted as a movie, now told again as a cartoon. It's gotten better and worse every time it's been told.

I do also generally think the story benefits from being read through twice. Once to follow Scott, once to follow all of his friends.

Generally enjoy anything by Science Saru purely out of appreciation for the animation itself, (I just try to pretend Japan Sinks doesn't exist). This looks fun.

The entire premise /is/ cringe, not by accident but on purpose. They are well aware.
