Well, I'm sure that hiring an editor-in-chief that has been written off by literally everyone vaguely on the left that knows their name is sure to help that mission of theirs. Frankly I had...
“Fundamentally, we want to be in the trust business, we want to be the truth business, we want to be in the fact business,” he added, saying that they wanted to appeal to the majority of the country that “would define themselves from center left to center right, and really ensure that it’s a place that can be true to the legacy that we’re inheriting, and we’re going to invest behind that.”

Frankly I had written off CBS news alongside most news outlets long ago for effectively creating the world we live in today. And while I can perfectly understand why David Ellsion is still trying to say "Both sides are just as bad and we should all totally get along guys", it's more bullshit today than it has ever been in an era when the party in power is being run by fascists who are attacking and deporting law-abiding American citizens while tearing down civil rights left and right. Such messaging is not news; it's propaganda that exists to normalize atrocities being performed by the government.
The thing that frustrates me most about the "both sides suck" sentiment is that it's as actually kinda true but also completely missing the context or scope of things and hand waiving things off....
The thing that frustrates me most about the "both sides suck" sentiment is that it's as actually kinda true but also completely missing the context or scope of things and hand waiving things off. It's like if you had 2 employees at a company, 1 is stealing people's lunches out of the fridge, the other is stealing hundreds of thousands of embezzled money. Yeah, both employees suck, but there is an insane degree of difference between the two. It's completely disingenuous to hand waive it off.
I'm so tired of the two party system, feels like no one actually represents me but I'm forced to pick a side because the other side is so cartoonishly evil.
I'd put it in an even simpler way. "Both sides suck" is true, but if someone is using that as an excuse instead of an indictment, then they don't actually think both sides suck.

I'd disagree. I think a certain amount of nihilism has sunk in, in our culture. In a business sense, I don't think that there are immediate major consequences for embracing pushover centrist...

I'd disagree. I think a certain amount of nihilism has sunk in, in our culture. In a business sense, I don't think that there are immediate major consequences for embracing pushover centrist policies. Presently, one can opine 'both sides can suck,' and then can still turn out a profit without believing it being to be true or false.
Thus, it doesn't matter what people actually think. Everyone has the sense that the two party system doesn't serve their needs, but the oligarchical powers that be work to keep that framework. The system is breaking down, and any attempts to rationalize just sanewashes the collapse.
