The Good Place S04E01 - "A Girl From Arizona: Part 1" discussion thread
Now that the show is available on the NBC, Hulu and your store of choice, what did you all think about this season premiere of the Good Place? Did we want to do a thread for each episode or just one at the beginning and one at the end?
Character development thought
I enjoy this new dynamic they added to Simone. I was wondering how they'd create conflict with her since she was previously the levelheaded and grounding force of the show for a while, keeping the others in check. Having her intentionally act out because she thinks she's in a coma is a good pivot.
But you just know it's going to be heartbreaking when she finds out its real. The show still hasn't revealed how she died yet, after all.
One of the funniest jokes ever.
The Bad Place’s theme song being Karz 4 Kids had me actually crying. It really got me. I thought it was a good episode.

My Thoughts on the Episode
Spoilers Below.
Kind of a little dull, tbh. Maybe it's cause I had my expectations set for a hour long premiere, but it seemed like it was laying an awful lot of pipe for a final season premiere. (Simone refusing to believe she's dead, Dudebro Brock being all Dudebro, Eleanor not wanting to have Chidi and Simone reconnect and the Janet/Jason/Derek connection) Kinda feels like Linda was a wasted character as well, being revealed to be a demon in a skin suit, since the idea of someone being so bland to refuse any self betterment out of hand has some legs.
Future Speculation
There is chatter that the demons swapped out Michael with a sleeper agent in the Michael suit. Easy way to get conflict in now that the Bad Place is banned no take backsies from messing with the Medium Place test. Alternatively, the Bad Place could just leave them to their own devices, but that really doesn't seem to be their M.O, and while I'm not a fan of the evil twin trope, I could see it playing out like that and trust the show to do something novel if that is the case.I haven't watched the episode yet, but thanks for reminding me the show started again. It is easily my favorite comedy still on the air (which makes me incredibly sad this will be the final season). I don't know if there are enough other fans of the show on here to do regular weekly discussions, but if there is, I would totally be down for partaking in them!
