Comment on Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty - new ways to play in ~games
1-800-KETAMINE Reminds me of the trailer talking about how believable the AI is, making a living, breathing world with NPCs living lives, when you could tell just looking at it that the NPCs were just Witcher 3...That's not even getting into the abysmal AI.
Reminds me of the trailer talking about how believable the AI is, making a living, breathing world with NPCs living lives, when you could tell just looking at it that the NPCs were just Witcher 3 NPCs all over again, but more of them.
Timestamped YT video example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjF9GgrY9c0&t=12m55s
Even in this video, the 'duplicate NPCs' problem appears, though nowhere near as bad as it ended up being at release. See red pants / crop top NPC at 13:00 and again at 13:29
It's too bad. I really enjoyed the game, though probably in part because I went in with far lower expectations than many. If only they'd gone for "Witcher 3 but cyberpunk and guns" as the pitch instead of "most advanced and deep game ever made, revolutionary!"

Probably a healthy mix. Oh boy.

Comment on Reddit users who tried to delete all their posts during the blackout inadvertently left behind everything inside the temporarily-private subreddits in ~tech
1-800-KETAMINE This kills me when I see people excited about possible reduction of powermod issues because of this, so they're cheering it on. If any power mods get hit, it's 100% collateral damage, and Reddit...I do also realize there are extremely toxic, abusive and power-tripping moderators and some who have far too much control of a ridiculous amount of subs, who are indeed problematic. Reddit has never had a single problem with allowing all of that to continue as usual, unhindered, when they absolutely have the internal tools to deal with it themselves, if they chose.
This kills me when I see people excited about possible reduction of powermod issues because of this, so they're cheering it on. If any power mods get hit, it's 100% collateral damage, and Reddit will do absolutely nothing to prevent the issue from happening again (and it will).
It is almost unbelievable how badly they've handled this. A solution where everybody wins is so straightforward, but they said "nah" and every step taken has been further in the 'everybody loses' direction. It's bizarre. Even just different messaging without changing anything about the policies themselves would have prevented a lot of the drama, though it still would've been a mess. Yet almost every opportunity they've had, they chose to antagonize further. I struggle to understand it.

There's a lot of evidence of crimes where the only exposure in the English-speaking world is on Reddit, else it would just stay on RU/UA Telegram (and the occasional Twitter post). But Reddit probably dislikes that even more than they do porn given their reasons.

It really has been disappointing watching the enshitification slowly take over. All good things eventually, I suppose. Hoping I will take the opportunity to turn back to the things I've been neglecting because the dopamine hit isn't quite as instant.

It became the default 'what do now?' for me and only now am I realizing just how much I let it replace things that actually help me build a life for myself. Here's to less doomscrolling, eh?

Comment on US medical insurers clamping down on doctors who prescribe Ozempic for weight loss in ~health
1-800-KETAMINE AFAIK, weight loss is off-label for ozempic, so it wouldn't even be legal for them to advertise it for that purpose. Those shady commercials where they just say "ask your doctor" also let them...they do the very shady practice of "Ask your doctor if it's right for you", without saying anything about what the drug is.
AFAIK, weight loss is off-label for ozempic, so it wouldn't even be legal for them to advertise it for that purpose. Those shady commercials where they just say "ask your doctor" also let them avoid mentioning side effects. Of course, everybody knows about the weight loss bit now, so those commercials are still useful. Gross.

These platforms are designed to be addictive, after all. I'd bet many users who never would have used Reddit, etc. discovered it during that time, or had heard of it but hadn't signed up yet.
I wonder where the door (or chunk of regular fuselage?) landed. Hopefully nobody got hurt. That would be one heck of a thing to wake up to in your back yard.
