AeonThoth Matter of fact, I did not until I posted this thread. I'm a novice when it comes to computers but I'm always eager to learn. That's why I'm considering Linux."in fact, I'd wager you don't know even what that is or how your data is collected"

I've been experimenting with Ubuntu and Mint on VirtualBox for a few days, and I fail to see the utility for less tech savvy people such as myself. I have experience in HTML and CSS as well as dabbling in Codecademy for recreation, but higher level computing is new to me. I don't know how to navigate a terminal nor how to stop Windows from crashing, but I'm open to learn.

My Lenovo laptop and Dell desktop have subpar specs on them, so playing a AAA game from the last decade is out of the question. They struggle to run Team Fortress 2, BioShock, and Minecraft at 30 FPS, but 1990's boomer shooters and some indie titles play fairly smoothly. Here are some of the games that they can run:
- Doom (1993 to Final)
- Quake (1-3)
- Deus Ex (2000)
- Max Payne 2
- Half-Life 2 and its episodes
- Portal series
- Batman: Arkham City
- Celeste
- Hue
- The Stanley Parable
- Borderlands 2
Any suggested games would be greatly appreciated.

If you ask how to take care of a spider infestation in your home, all of the comments will suggest in jest to commit arson. I have to admit, the r/AskReddit thread on attractive actresses with all of the answers being Danny DeVito was funny (IMO) but why can't those memes stay in their subreddits?
Also, the new Reddit corporate minimalist design is a scourge on the senses and hid the CSS designs of individual subreddits. The old.reddit design from 2005 gives the platform a sense of timelessness, like part of the wild west of the world wide web was preserved in this forum that should have died out by 2012.

I signed onto Reddit six years ago because that was where I could discuss stuff I liked intelligently. Due to social awkwardness and poor conversational skills, I feel like I contribute nothing to the conversation anywhere, on forums or IRL. I even signed up for Stack Exchange, Hacker News, and Ars Techinca for discussion, but they all look like you need a Ph.D. to contribute anything meaningful?
Am I alone on this? How can I be a productive part of the conversation?
