It is worth noting that the original uBlock Origin for Firefox is still available and supported. The Lite version is a Manifest V3-based extension with a lighter and more efficient load on resources, such as processor and memory. Hill recently recommended switching to uBlockOrigin Lite after Chrome started flagging the extension as unsupported (there is a way to circumvent that). Contrary to Chrome, Mozilla does not plan to drop the Manifest V2-based extensions in the near future, so uBlock Origin will continue to exist and work on Firefox and other browsers with MV2 support.

So frustrating for the developer, but not the end of the world for end users who aren't willing (or technically-minded enough) to go to a non-official website to add an extension manually to their firefox installation

Over the years, the success of screwworm eradication has inspired scientists to apply the sterile-insect technique to other agricultural pests such as the Mexican fruit fly, the Mediterraean fruit fly, and the pink bollworm.

When a person is indicted, they are given formal notice that it is believed that they committed a crime. The indictment contains the basic information that informs the person of the charges against them.

Mages of Mystralia also had Ed Greenwod (the fantasy author who wrote Elminster) as a story writer for the game. It's quite a good action/puzzle game where you have to figure out how to combine elements to make spells to complete puzzles and combat. Who knows, if you play far enough, you might even run into me in game :-D

There's a whole playlist of Ed talking about writing and the game

Interesting, but I believe that's a different species, the linked research article does have a picture embedded in it. It's quite striking either way, and according to the article, has evolved independently at least 8 times in different tarantula species.

The blue coloration in animals is a fascinating and relatively rare phenomenon in nature, often resulting from the arrangement of biological photonic nanostructures, rather than pigments, and this unique structural coloration has independently evolved in various species, contributing to the captivating diversity of color patterns in the animal kingdom (Prum 1999). Blue color in tarantulas is a unique instance of structural colors that evolved independently at least eight times, and tarantulas display less iridescence and maintain highly conserved reflectance in a specific narrow band of wavelengths, setting them apart from birds and insects (Hsiung et al. 2015).

Vote was just concluded, Speaker of the House is now vacant after a 216-210 vote in favor of vacating the seat. 43 days for a new speaker to be elected, and a new budget bill to pass before a government shutdown. I am definitely not looking forward to what this means for this country.

The entire existence of "school lunch debt" in the first place is something that I believe strongly shouldn't exist. My mom was a teacher for 24 years, and I remember clearly the extra food she purchased out of her own funds in order to make sure no child was hungry in her classrooms, and it bugs me to this day that such a thing should ever be necessary.

I'm starting to ramp up in Vampire Survivors, I've had it for ages, but hadn't really played much of it. I've just barely unlocked the Arcana system, and 3 total cards so far (VI - Sarabande of Healing, XVI - Slash, and XVIII - Boogaloo of Illusions), I have a total of 79/190 achievements unlocked, which is a fairly good indicator of how much more game there still is for me to unlock.

I love how I can pick up my steam deck, and I can commit to a maximum of 30 minutes for a round, so I don't feel pressured to keep playing if I don't feel like it.

China may be the industry leader in producing the two elements, but there are alternative producers, as well as available substitutes for both materials, Eurasia Group analysts said in a July research report.

Having this information makes this sound a lot more like a "cutting off your nose to spite your face" sort of situation, especially compounded with the significant drop in export demand that they're facing starting with last month as well.

I played a bit of the original Autonauts, and enjoyed the programming/automation challenge of it, I'll definitely play through at least some of the new one.

I have no experience with the rest, some look interesting, most will probably just get appended to my spreadsheet of keys to give away during charity events
