I would imagine this is preferred during supply shortages like the one we're in, whereas in other times it's better to have smaller and more frequent donations coming in.

You can't donate as often though when you do the double red.

Those are some real rough edges you'll encounter; on the other hand, though, being there at all is a strong indicator that you're not getting spyware or malware that sends your data to a server or wants you to sign up for an account. For that reason alone, I'll check F-Droid first for something that will meet my need before looking elsewhere.

The public decides what kinds of people get put on the Supreme Court by way of who they put in the White House, but (1) most Americans seemingly don't understand this and (2) there is a substantial time delay between these choices leading to their consequences.

The decisions from the current court are what "the public" manifested when they elected Bush Sr., Bush Jr., and Trump. What voters do in the next few elections will shape the makeup of the courts going into the future. The voters have agency here, but the payoff isn't quick and 40% of them desire a conservative-dominated court anyway.

Anyone who opposes the direction of this court but decides not to vote against Trump's re-election is either ignorant of how this works or a hypocrite.

Your first paragraph is arguing the benefits of banning plastic bags, which the parent comment agrees with. Their complaint was with the required 10-cent charge for paper bags.

Instead, these stores generally must provide customers recycled paper bags or certified reusable grocery bags and must charge their customers at least 10 cents for each bag.

You might be confusing their first offering (Beeper, which uses a bunch of hosted Mac devices and acts as a proxy) with this newer one (Beeper Mini, which is a reverse engineered client you run fully on your device).

The former was indeed more problematic on the E2EE front (after all, you have what is effectively a MITM between you and everyone you talk to—placing all your trust in their employees and their security to keep out hackers). The latter, potentially less so—though the way it dealt with faking the device attestation seems like it might have been less than ideal.

This animator has uploaded 10 videos since starting their channel, TAEETIMEE, about a year ago. They're all about a minute long, and they're each really expressive and beautifully made. I suggest just going back to the oldest and seeing how they progress up through today's latest.
