The simple movie explanation would be that there was a state-level coup d'état. It's not like there wouldn't be insurgencies all over both states in this scenario.

You might be confusing their first offering (Beeper, which uses a bunch of hosted Mac devices and acts as a proxy) with this newer one (Beeper Mini, which is a reverse engineered client you run fully on your device).

The former was indeed more problematic on the E2EE front (after all, you have what is effectively a MITM between you and everyone you talk to—placing all your trust in their employees and their security to keep out hackers). The latter, potentially less so—though the way it dealt with faking the device attestation seems like it might have been less than ideal.

This animator has uploaded 10 videos since starting their channel, TAEETIMEE, about a year ago. They're all about a minute long, and they're each really expressive and beautifully made. I suggest just going back to the oldest and seeing how they progress up through today's latest.

Make sure you are looking at the financing offers from the dealers themselves, as they are often much lower rates than what the banks and credit unions are offering. Hyundai Motor Finance was offering 0% earlier this year (when banks were doing 4-5%), and when I got in they were doing 3% (when banks were 5-6%).

Agreed, thought it should be noted that this problem only applies if the driver is using i-pedal mode (which is easily avoided by not being one of those weirdos 😉).

How is that a reasonable position? That only perfect people or absolutists may ever advocate for any kind of systemic change? When talking about systemic issues, it's often the case that the status quo places an undue burden on everybody living within that system to act in society's best interests; if only the most abstinent among us had the right to speak on these issues, there'd be no one left to argue for them.

I've been trying this out for a few months now (coming from MFP); It's been steadily improving though the flows around adding foods and tracking meals is still pretty rough to me in a few ways:

    • After scanning a barcode or finding a product via search, selecting it and confirming the nutrition facts found doesn't actually add it to your log—there's an unintuitive two-step process where you need to find the product a second time, select it (by checkbox, not by tapping the row), and finally tap the checkmark in the header to commit the entry.
    • There's no good way to specify how much of a serving you had of something; For whole multiples you can go through the "add" workflow multiple times in a row, but for fractions (like 0.5x or 1.5x servings) you just have to do the math and edit the food entries (which does not update the macros; you have to do your own scaling math to each nutrient you care to track).
    • Many foods from the online database get retrieved and added to your log as though you consumed exactly 100g of it (instead of whatever a normal serving might be), meaning you have to then correct all the values by hand as described above (which makes you feel like you just wasted time performing the search at all). This seems to be getting better now, but only for certain foods in my experience.
