That's an unpopular opinion, as it's about to be the most-watched movie in Netflix history.

I also didn’t really care for any of the music in the film.

Well, that's an even more unpopular opinion. It's the first soundtrack to ever chart four simultaneous top 10 songs.

Haven't seen anyone mention Sorcerer (1977). It’s a remake of the French classic The Wages of Fear. Same nail-biting tension, but totally its own vibe. Bombed on release thanks in part to Star Wars coming out the same week, but it’s aged into a masterpiece. Quentin Tarantino has said it's one of the greatest movies ever made.

My vote for the greatest guitar solo (and performance) is Jimi Hendrix performing Red House live at the Isle of Wight Festival in August 1970, just three weeks before his death.

Sorry for the Reddit link, but it's the only full version of the song I can find online. https://old.reddit.com/r/ClassicRock/comments/raoed4/jimi_hendrix_red_house_isle_of_wight_festival/

If you don't want to watch the full thing, jump to 3:45 and start from there. It's the best thing I've ever heard.

I've always just done this for fun primarily, and I've got to meet a lot of people and make some great friends along the way, so I am very thankful for that.

I get together with a lot of the r/HighQualityGifs mods every year, and we all hang out in person for a long weekend and just do whatever. That's been the best part of it all. I think this year will be our tenth year of doing that. HQG Con we call it, haha.

    • Exemplary

The best counter-argument is that the logic just doesn't hold up when you think about it.

    1. It doesn’t make you less responsible. Just because someone else might do something doesn’t change the fact that you are still choosing to do it. If a crime is going to happen anyway, does that mean you should volunteer to commit it?

    2. You set your own standards. What other people do isn’t an excuse for your own actions. If you believe something is wrong (or at least questionable), then choosing to do it just because “someone else will” means you’re outsourcing your morality to the lowest common denominator.

    3. It's a slippery slope to justifying anything. “If I don’t cheat, someone else will.” “If I don’t lie on my resume, someone else will.” Taken to the extreme, it’s a blank check for bad behavior.

    4. You can be the exception. A lot of things in the world happen because people assume they’re inevitable. But things can change when someone chooses to say no.

At the end of the day, just because something will happen doesn’t mean you should be the one to do it.

Blade Runner 2049 – A beautifully shot sci-fi flick about AI and what it means to be human. It’s slow and thoughtful, but really worth it.

Arrival – Another deep one, all about language, time, and communication. It’s pretty philosophical, kinda like Interstellar.

The Prestige – If you liked Inception, this one’s a must-watch. It’s about two magicians and has some crazy twists.

Her – A more emotional take on tech and relationships, set in a near-future world. Really thought-provoking.

Donnie Darko – A cult classic that deals with time travel and alternate realities. It’s weird, but in a good way.

Coherence – This one's a hidden gem. A group of friends at a dinner party start experiencing strange things involving parallel universes. Super low-budget, but so clever.

Tenet – If you loved the whole time-bending stuff in Inception, Nolan’s Tenet will definitely scratch that itch.

The Fountain – A visually striking film about love, death, and the quest for eternal life. It’s deep and emotional. My favorite from this list. I even named my cat after a character in this movie.

The cast in the 2002 version is almost perfect to me, including Richard Harris as Abbe, and Henry Cavill as Albert. Oh, and Michael Wincott as the sadistic prison warden is just the best.

It's one of those movies that I know isn't perfect, but it's one of my favorites to put on, and I could watch it anytime.
