Because I'll be on a plane they'll have to playable without an internet connection. I also don't have any controllers with me, so would prefer games with decent touch controls. I'm open to any genre, but I particularly like RPGs. Thank you in advance!

I signed up to Squabbles as well, but was really put off when I read they don't allow NSFW content at all.

With the Reddit blackout, and me deleting my account, I'm not entirely sure how to fill the void that Reddit has left. I'm using Tildes and Kbin as a replacement, and they're amazing for discussing the topics I'm interested in, but I had grown to rely on Reddit for keeping up with the news topics that interest me; gaming, tech, astrophysics, hip hop, fantasy novels, and many more. And while alternative communities exist for each of my examples, they aren't the one-stop-shop that Reddit had become for me. On top of that, my initial reaction to a lot of questions or queries would be to Google "Steam Deck vs ASUS Ally reddit.com" (for example), to get some first hand community opinions. I know that it took Reddit many years to get to such a point, and that I can't expect any new alternative to be at the same level right now. I've thought about trying to get into RSS feeds, which I've never tried, but again my gut reaction would be to look on Reddit as to what are the best sources to add. I don't have much of a point to my ramble, just wanted to vent and lament that I'm kind of lost without Reddit at the moment; it had become such a useful and ingrained tool in my life.

Yeah that's true to an extent, but because you never pull duplicate cards from the collectors caches if you increase your collection level high enough you will eventually unlock every card. There's also the collectors tokens that you can earn F2P and use to buy cards like Thanos when they appear in the collectors store.

I also remember the animated sprites for each Pokémon blowing me away as a kid. Also also, Silver is still one of the more interesting antagonists in the series.

My initial impression has been very positive; I'm having a lot of fun with it. The combat is a bit slower paced than some other modern ARPGs, which I appreciate, your attacks feel more purposeful and impactful. The skills are interesting and varied, all with lovely animations and effects. The MMO-lite aspects work well, world bosses, group dungeons, and just seeing others running around is all great. They really nailed the art direction and graphics, and the cinematics are brilliant too.

It's of course not all perfect. I've had some issues with server lag/freezes, sometimes dying because of it. I'm not a fan of the level scaling, you can never over level and get that OP feeling that I love; but it does make the game more challenging, so I understand why they did it. The skill tree could also do with being a bit more in depth, but it's not terrible as it is. And of course the price of the cash shop cosmetics is just obscene, especially considering the box price of the game. Thankfully no P2W items though.

I'd say it's up there with Diablo 2, and is one of the best ARPGs I've played.

The anti glare screen on the top model is definitely a factor for me as well though. I'd potentially want to use it outside sometimes.

I'm interested in buying one of the new PC gaming handhelds, and I'm torn. If I went for the Steam Deck I'd be buying the 512GB version, so the price difference between it and the ASUS is only about £50/£100 more. The ASUS seems to do a lot better in benchmarks, has a nicer screen, and comes with Windows 11. I love Linux but there's several games I'd want to play on it that the anti cheat just won't work with Linux. I know you can dual boot the Steam Deck, so that could also be an option. The main thing that is making the decision more difficult is that the Steam Deck has touchpads, and the ASUS apparantly has inferior thumbsticks and D-pad. But then again the ASUS is sleeker and lighter, so potentially more portable? Sorry for the ramble, I just wanted to express my thoughts so far, and hear what you all think. Help me decide!

Due to the effect it has on me, I've developed a bit of a fear of it. I wouldn't describe it as a full blown phobia, it's more of a nervous aversion, but I will (within reason) do my best to avoid it.

Ooh now that's a cool theory, I've not heard that one before. Aren't they making some new films in the Matrix universe? It would be interesting if they expanded on that idea.

Don't read on if you don't want a few spoilers. Also if you haven't watched The Matrix trilogy you really should!

Smith crossing into the real world as Bane, the battle for Zion, and the final battle between Smith and Neo are all stand out scenes for me. I'm slightly not ashamed to admit I cried the first time I watched Trinity die. I also appreciated seeing more of the real world, it feels like it fleshes out the universe. The one gripe I do have is Neo's powers extending into the real world, it really doesn't make sense to me. It's shown at one point he can be wirelessly connected to the Matrix, but it isn't explained how, and it doesn't explain how that allows him to blow up machines with his mind.

I am massively excited for this, and will most likely get it on release day. One thing I do hope for, and am slightly sceptical about, is whether Game Freak will take some risks with the series, and move away from the generic 8 gym badges/elite 4 formula. I know they have developed a stronger narrative along side this in recent games, but the stories have always felt like an aside to this core concept.

I completely agree. The purpose of incarceration should be for rehabilitation and/or the protection of the public. In this, and any, case where the crime was involuntary then neither of those purposes can be fulfilled. That said, in a case with consequences as dire as this one the sentence could be seen as paying penance to the victims friends and family for the pain they have to live with. I imagine it might make it a tiny bit easier for them to know the person responsible is behind bars, even if it was an accident.

I would say 18 months is about right. The crime definitely falls under the definition of involuntary manslaughter "Causing another person's death through reckless behavior, or in the commission of another crime but without intent to kill...". The sentencing under federal guidelines is 10 to 16 months, so you could even argue that 18 months is a little harsher than normal. I think he should definitely receive a lifetime ban on driving as well though
