I can't talk about what it would do to me these days, since I haven't really touched alcohol in over 10 years. When I was a teenager, I'd say it was very dependent on my general mental state. I distinctly remember becoming quite creepy at times, at least from a sober, personal point of view. Other times I just had fun. Or blacked out. So a combination of Mr. Hyde / The Nutty Professor I suppose, considering I am or at least used to be quite introverted otherwise.

Still no regrets about giving alcohol up, such a useless drug.

As always the left has been goaded to eat itself alive by the right, and it's taken the bait hook, line and sinker.

Biden isn't left by any definition but the American one. The reason why "the left", as you call it, is so divided is simply because the Democrats are what happens when you try and unite people politically ranging from right to center right to left to hard left in one party. Why would anyone with actual leftist views vote for a milquetoast status quo party?

Republicans are all varying degrees of right wing, of course it's easier to unite them.

The only reason to vote for Biden right now boils down to "He isn't as bad as Trump." And while I agree that that, considering how bad Trump is, is a good enough reason, I personally don't think it'll work. It didn't work with Clinton, and, unless you guys get very "lucky", it won't work for Biden either.

I have to agree. I tried watching the first episode and about 5 minutes in all I could think was “Well, another show you need to be stoned for to enjoy. Great.”

Wish there were more animated shows that aren’t crass comedies or stoner shows. Animation holds so much promise for story development.

You pretty much got the process right. I hope you're aware that the site you linked only offers data-only SIM cards, so no phone number.

I travel to the US quite a bit and it's always such a bother. I'm pretty sure my passport got flagged at some point in the past, because I've been pulled out of the line like 6 out of 7 times. (I'm white as snow, so it's not a race thing and I'm from Germany, so the country shouldn't be it either). Even my last ESTA application had to be "manually checked".

And even when you don't get pulled out, regular immigration isn't really that fun either. For some reason I always get the jokester TSA dude who goes all "We ain't gonna let you in anyways - S I K E". Real funny, considering a lot of my friends are American and I'd like to be able to continue visiting them.

That being said, I have not had my phone/laptop searched yet and I hope it never comes to that. That's such a violation of privacy.

That being said, be careful while riding. Always wear gear. British friend of my absolutely wrecked his knee last year and he still has at least one surgery coming up for that.

    • Cobaltstreak - Used to do relaxing Binding of Isaac streams, now does other roguelikes and other stuff, mostly smaller games but sometimes triple A as well

    • Larsfest - Binding of Isaac streams 90% of the time, sometimes other stuff. He always tries to invent new challenges for himself and is a genuinely nice and funny dude.

    • Northernlion - I don't really know much of his stuff outside of the NLSS (Northernlion Live Super Show, very enjoyable and funny, him playing games and shit talking with friends, including Cobaltstreak sometimes ), but he has a lot of Binding of Isaac content on Youtube and a pretty big fandom due to his personality.

    • Annemunition - She used to do a lot of Overwatch streaming, I stopped watching her when she started streaming Rainbow Six Siege all the time. However, if you like Siege, she's a pretty good player and good person.

    • Loserfruit - She used to stream a lot of Overwatch but also IRL things, I'm not sure what she's doing now, but she's best Aussie, so whatever she does should be enjoyable.

    • Kiwo - Pretty cool person, no idea what she's playing now. Used to play a lot of Overwatch, which is how I found her.

There is a difference between a snide joke and the kind of stuff she and others wrote and still regularly write. I personally believe that no topic should be excluded from humor and satire, but the point of jokes is to evoke a positive emotion. When your "joke" is just a thinly veiled expression of a negative emotion, be it hate or fear or something else, that gets lost and it is neither funny nor healthy for you or others.

It's hard to truly explain the difference, but look at standup comedy for another example. There are lots of comedians who make pretty dark jokes about race relations, regardless of their own race. And it works, because they turn their own negative experiences and emotions into something good, for themselves and others.

I've actually been thinking about this a lot lately. I have a ton of friends online who are often from other countries and I'd really like them to know if anything ever happened to me. So far, my plan is giving my father a sealed letter that contains my last will (sounds spooky at a young age, but whatever, I had friends die way too young to not think about it) and the password to access my PC + instructions on whom to inform/what to do exactly.

Just need to figure out a way to tell this to my father without having him think I'm suicidal or something.

Interesting article, I’d be interested to hear more from friends/“colleagues” of his from the time he got radicalized until he died. The way radicalization works has always fascinated me, sadly most people who eventually break out of their radicalization aren’t necessarily eloquent enough to write about their experience.

Assuming his family is truthful about their distaste for his actions, I really feel for them. Must be terrible to lose someone so important to you to extremism.

I love BPT and I think you guys do a good job with the sub. The only "big" issues are really when people either get mad at jokes about white people, or, alternatively, when someone claims that BPT has zero black people on it anyways and the whole subthread devolves in people fighting about that.

Well, political threads also often go wild, but at least there is good discussion to be had in those.
