Quest 2 is a good jumping in point, it has good standalone apps, but also works as a good PCVR headset either tethered or over WIFI.

There is experimental support for multithreading now which has helped move the bottleneck from the CPU to the GPU.

This site is ok, but the rigid structure of the "subs" doesn't work for me, it puts me off wanting to post anything.

I tried Lemmy a couple of days ago and that isn't a good experience at all, terrible UX and very low engagement.

Learning how long individual ingredients take to cook is key, especially meat (to avoid food poisoning!). Once you know that you can plan the meal preparation knowing what has to be done when.

Pretty lame list when it doesn't have squabbles.io which is 1000x more relevant an option than Discord.

No, it is very unsatisfying to play in flat after experiencing VR. It is amazing how immersive VR is, your brain just thinks you are in a car.

Most sim games don't have career modes, you have the cars and the tracks and the challenge of improving your times or racing AI/players.

Most sim games let you race anything you like from the start. It is the arcade games that gate content.

VR is a literal game changer for sims. iRacing has a terrible business model, I can get behind having to pay a subscription, but having to pay for each car and track you want is crazy.

Pirates don't like having the moral high ground they have in their head questioned. Anything that goes against their world view that they are amazing for sticking it to the man gets a downvote.

Yeah, I grew up with machines that just booted into a BASIC or on one machine a Forth prompt.

I admit I am old and my brain isn't as elastic as it used to be, but I have worked in IT for most my working life and am very much not stupid, but all these IDE's I have tried just seem so much more complicated to use. I am sure when you are over the first hurdle of getting them up and running it is fine, but they all seem to have extra layers of faff to get over first.

Thanks for trying to help, I do appreciate it, but sadly this seems to be another solution that doesn't "just work". I installed it, the documentation says to do "love --version" and windows has no idea what I am talking about. Going to the install directory and I can't do love.exe --version. I try their hello world example in its own directory and that fails as well.

I think I will give up, the programming world has passed me by.

    Thanks :-)

Am very out of the loop with programming these days, I saw some games use LUA and wanted to learn it in a desktop environment to get a wider view as to how it works.
