And the same thing in middle class neighborhoods. Is there a work that describes "gentrification" from middle class to upper class? Because I feel like that's most of San Diego rn

I'm feeling it living in San Diego. The house I'm currently long term renting used to be an AirBnB, but my landlord got tired of having to keep cleaning it and dealing with shitty guests. And luckily for me he put it out lower than market rate, but that was a few years ago, and although my rent hasn't changed since we first moved in, in starting to find better deals around nearby neighborhoods.

But when I look to buy, it's literally impossible for me. For a 2 or 3 bedroom house in the city, the cheapest is like $700k. And even with a 20% down payment, with interest rates the way they are it's like $3000 to $4000 a month, which is quite a bit more than we pay for rent. I'm considering trying to buy and then getting roommates to help subsidize for the first few years until I'm able to refinance or make more money lol

I love the PCT because I've hiked very small portions of it. I live like 15 minutes from the southern terminus lol

The AT looks really cool, especially with it's history, but in a similar way to you, doesn't exactly call to me

Bro, low-key this is pretty fucking wild. I get how it happens, it's just really interesting how a country can whiplash so far from persecuting a cultural group, that they'll go as far to defend said cultural group when they persecute in almost the same way.

I feel like Germany is in a weird position on this. Like the correct answer is to stand up to an apartheid government. But I totally understand why it's difficult for them not to.

In my uneducated opinion, they're failing themselves again, and are once again being complicit to a genocidal leader.

Congrats on the job! I feel the same way, I finally landed a job this year too that has a set work schedule, and it's so fucking amazing. Same days off every week, same hours every day. The only downside is that I start work at 5:30am haha, but it is nice getting off work at 2pm and being able to beat traffic or the crowds at grocery stores.

And in terms of the cat, good luck! My little assholes kept me awake last night because they kept chasing each other. I had to grab one of them and use them as a pillow to keep them still

I finally got into my career field! I work in Wildlife Nutrition at a zoo, and I'm so fucking happy and proud of myself.

I'll admit, I just turned 30 not too long ago, and my 20s were tumultuous, and I never finished my degree. I was able to get into a competitive position at a renowned zoo, beating out people with degrees. My volunteer experience at other wildlife organizations and my hard work in other departments at the same zoo paid off. I'm finally full time. I finally have amazing benefits.

And I'm finally going to finish my degree. Now that I'm benefitted, one of my benefits is that my employer has a tuition reimbursement program. They'll pay for me to go to school, with no limit on how much they pay, it just depends on my grades. If I get straight A's they pay for 100% of everything.

I feel like my life is starting a bit slower than others, but it's so nice to have just one, stable hour, job. Set days off. No more dealing with customers or guests. I get to help wildlife keepers with preparing their diets for their animals.

This isn't my end goal though. Once I get my degree I plan on working directly in a conservation program for birds in the Pacific. Last year alone, we as humans let about 20 species of Pacific avian species go extinct. As someone of Pacific Islander descent, Pacific birds have a special place in my heart and I would very much like to help stabilize their populations on the islands.

This isn't really exciting for most people. I just haven't really had the chance to talk to others about my excitement, hence the wall of text. If you made it this far, thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

But yeah, for me it's the mobile app. After RIF went down, I just wanted to see how the official app was, and the same 5 subs were on my front page. It was either that or allow r/all, I was annoyed I wasn't able to see content from all of the subs I followed like when I was able to use RIF. It was then I realized why people hated the official app. It overall sucks. I trusted everyone when they said it sucked, but I finally learned first hand why lol. It feels like it's trying too hard to be like a mainstream social media app

My brother had a bunch of games that I would play sometimes, but my first actual game that I got myself was LEGO Rock Raiders. It was like a LEGO RTS, having to mine materials to create buildings and vehicles, and achieving a goal. It was almost like a LEGO Warcraft or StarCraft. I wonder if I can find a download for it somewhere...

If I answered this question 5 or more years ago, it would have been Magic the Gathering cards. Like, a playset of every single card ever printed (maybe minus reprints). Maybe extras of certain cards for decks.

But nowadays, I just proxy everything, because I'm not really a fan of how Hasbr-WoTC has been treating the player base as a financial mine. Cutting things we enjoyed (GPs, Pro Tour) and shoving things we don't like down our throat (Secret Lairs, Arena: Alchemy, endless new product, Modern Horizons). I made a super power cube with all of the essentially most expensive cards ever, but it only cost me like, $40-50 lol

Current me would like to indulge in a project car, like a R32 or an old 2 door Subaru, like the 22b

For me, I'm into Green Academia and Solarpunk, with a bit of Junglecore mixed in.

Honestly before looking through this wiki I only really thought of myself liking Solarpunk stuff, and what I called "Hobbitcore", which I felt like was distinct from cottagecore. Not that hobbits were inherently "scientific", but I guess I'm more "Bilbocore" than "Hobbitcore", because I liked how Bilbo had a collection of artifacts and detailed maps. If he was also a horticulturalist or zoologist that would have been spot on the money for me.

I guess also, deep down, there's a little bit of goblincore in me.

Point is, if you haven't caught on, my ideal future society is a Solarpunk society where everyone lives in technologically advanced hobbit holes. That also has a lot of low tech in the house like paper and books, because we like those things, right?
