Didn't read that link, but I read about the deal earlier this week and it's super shady. They are saddling Asmodee with close to $1B in debt to pay down other Embracer (but not Asmodee) debts.

Over the years I've done both and I have to say, minimal planning has always been the best. We get a general idea of what we'd like to do and then plan (very) roughly around that. If we decide we want to just relax, we don't sweat any previous plans. If we find someplace interesting and just want to stay., we do that instead. For things that require reservations, we make those in advance and will use those as small anchor points. If we really aren't feeling it, we'll skip those as well.

I guess I'd sum it up by saying that a vacation should be relaxing. Tight and/or rigid schedules are generally not relaxing.

They are equally distasteful for different reasons and I have a visceral hate for smelling either. And I'm all for them being legal, I just don't want to be subjected to smelling them.

I feel like in that case they should just invest a bunch of cash in a low risk instrument and make more that 2%. Of course, the reality is more likely that their profit is greater but through creative accounting it's not. But, I'm not an expert in any of this, so I'm quite possibly wrong.

As someone that's used computers since the C64 and writes software every day, I worry about old age because companies can't just leave a working interface alone. They all feel this constant need to tweak things. That's fine, but annoying, to most people. As you get older your plasticity to change decreases and those kinds of UI changes become bigger and bigger problems.

I too expect others to do the same basic stuff I do and I'm constantly disappointed when they don't. After enough times of this I realized, I'm apparently not 'normal' and shouldn't expect my standard behavior from everyone else.

I frequently use Claude to help me get started on technical documents. I have a hard time starting them, so I explain to Claude the goal and any relevant contextual information. I also ask it to ask me follow-up questions to get anything else needed. After a few rounds of this it pops out a first draft of my document. Fro. Here I either edit it offline and resubmit or I talk with Claude to have it do the edits. Then I ask it to review the draft and give feedback. I go through multiple rounds of this until I'm happy with the results. When it's all done it's in my voice and to the quality level I demand from myself.

I mean, porn has long been an early adopter and driver of technology.

That being said, I use LLMs to help me write documentation. When I have a general idea of what I need to write and need a little push getting it started an LLM is perfect. Then I collaboratively edit it with the LLM. I never expect something perfect out of it, but it's good at making suggestions that I can expand on.

Another interesting use I'm experimenting with is having Llama2 evaluate a resume and help define an interview script based on the candidates' resume. So far it's doing a decent job of identifying salient points for discussion. I can drill into areas of interest for me in a collaborative way, like with the documentation.

There are numerous uses of the various ML tools out there with LLMs being interesting and useful in specific contexts as augmentation tools.
