Lasted about 45m before it went away.
It was the first for me and it seemed triggered by the super bright white page. I'm paranoid about bright lights now. I've actually always been really sensitive to light. My night vision is great though.

When looking at a screen it's an emissive source of like. The principle of operations is different. And it's more akin to staring at the sun. To each their own though. OLED dark mode is, IMO, the best for your eyes.

So much so that I freaked out and scheduled an emergency appt with my optometrist. Turns out what I experienced was an ocular migraine. Never experienced that before and I hope never to do it again. The blistering bright white page seems to be what triggered the incident. Bleh. Dark Mode, all the way.

Pretty sure there's a setting to make that the default, but I don't like unlocking all the doors when I'm alone or my wife is alone.

A smaller fraction of people seem to prefer it, but they are just weird (J/K. Kinda). I literally cannot watch anything with motion smoothing. It makes me anxious for some reason. So if I can't change it, I just leave the room.

It's how humans work as well. We always off from AGI, but an AGI isn't going to be some monolithic model. It'll be a system of models that work together and evolve over time. Current tool calling allows a limited form of multi-model intelligence along side sensory input and the ability to affect external change. We are getting the precursor building blocks in place.

We shouldn't want to restrict scientific and engineering advancement simply because there are other problems that need to be solved. I agree that there are a lot of problems we need to solve here on Earth. I disagree with the idea that we shouldn't focus beyond Earth until those are all solved.

Honestly, tool calling for LLMs is incredibly powerful. MCP Servers are one aspect of that. If you haven't spent much time looking into tool calling, I would recommend you try it out. If you are simply using a desktop agent like Claude Desktop, just learning how to attach MCP Servers will be a game changer. And there are numerous resources out there for writing your own.

I know you probably know this but... giving the current time isn't a failure of the model. They just aren't feeding it the current time as part of the context. I know it's silly, but you could add an (MCP Server)[https://github.com/modelcontextprotocol/servers/tree/main/src/time] to handle that.

I'd say the use of the word "such" set a negative connotation to an otherwise neutral sentence. Word choice and it's connection to emotions is so strange and interesting.

I even read through all the footnotes and followed up on some of the references. Overall, it's quality writing, regardless of the topic. The author is good and I think the fact that they are an editor on Wikipedia shows.
A service problem for which 'piracy' is not an unreasonable solution.
I'd happily pay a streaming service if it had access to all content.
At one point we were paying for 7 or 8 streaming services I think? I just bought a good NAS and setup Jellyfin instead. I've been slowly ripping my very large collection of movies and shows. For throwaway stuff I find it online, watch, and delete. I still have Netflix and Youtube. I refuse to pay for the ad free forced upgrade on Prime though, so I never use it anymore even though it's included in my Prime membership.
