This isn’t new when I worked at a chain pharmacy almost 20 years ago my manager would explain that anything less than a 5/5 was failing if you called into the phone survey at the bottom of the receipt.
Not that I have expected this to change it’s probably becoming more common. I had my car serviced and they told me I’d be receiving a review email and anything less than a 10/10 was failing.
I know part of the issue is the consumer we all want the best.
My other issue is I don’t want to click a link in your email. Give me a code that I can put in on your website or something else isn’t a link I have to make sure is valid. I know this is more steps and the people that it would get is less than the people that just click the link. But we really should not be conditioning people to just clicking links. Maybe I’m just overly cautious but better safe than sorry.

The media hasn’t helped by calling this his hush money trial but I feel like you’re misrepresenting the case. If he has just payed her of out of his own pocket as you said that would be legal but that’s not was happened.
Lying on the documents is what he was charged for. He was found guilty of felony falsification of business records.
To rise to the level of a felony this requires the falsification to be done with the intent to commit or conceal another crime.
This other crime is the New York State law about promoting or preventing the election to public office by unlawful means.
The FECA you noted was one of three potential unlawful means the jurors may have used to find he violated that state law. The others being tax fraud related to the repayment scheme or the additional false documents file associated with the setup of the llc.
I agree most people don’t understand campaign finance laws but most people are not managing or part of a campaign.

It seems that DC has a closed primary and is basically all democrats on the council. The two independents typically being democrats that switch party affiliation since the whole council can’t be from one party. So if you want any real say in your local government then you would probably register democrat. To a lesser degree this is true of the surrounding MD counties and possibly VA as well.

If it’s following the same format it’ll have 3 approximately 15 minute episodes for each of the two main characters. From season 1 Dooku as a Jedi with a blue lightsaber was pretty cool but also really weird to see.
For season 2, We’re going to get some background on Morgan Elsbeth and her relationship with Thrawn related to the Mandalorian and Ahsoka series.
I’m curious if/how Bariss and the Inquisitors will tie into ongoing stories. Of if it’ll just be interesting background for now

Another personal favorite was Worms World Party. All the weapons and destructible environments created lots of good multiplayer
I feel like I’m missing some good ones and should dig my ps1 collection out of the closet.
I’m pretty bad at fighting games but one of the others I had a lot of fun with was Star Wars: Masters of Teräs Käsi even if it wasn’t the best fighting game getting to play as Star Wars characters and leia with a double bladed “light saber” was cool
For weird games. One I rented from blockbuster a few times was Flintstones Bedrock Bowling where you ride a hollowed out half bowling bowl down various courses trying to avoid obstacles and knock down pins.

East Coast is Sinking
I was recently reading about trying to study the effect of sea level rise disconnecting communities and services from areas well before the land was actually inundated and permanently underwater. Due to flooding during storms cutting off roads etc. This was more focused on rural coastal communities but could impact of where slightly more inland communities can spread towards. I haven’t found the article again yet.

Castles of Burgundy is also great with 2 players. Each player is building out their own board based on dice rolls from a central share board.

This is the recipe I used for the sour beef. The Baltimore version was brought over by German immigrants so there are lots of versions and variations of sauerbraten around the internet and everyone’s blend of vinegar and spice is a little different.

I read an article about “supercooling” a house at night to cool all the internal structure to something in the 60s when there is a lower outside air temperature making the work easier on the ac. Also seemed that there was a benefit if you off peak energy pricing. I don’t know how the math works out but it’s used that same thermal battery concept in the explanation. I’ll try to find the article and update later.

While it is frustrating and seems inconsistent in hindsight, there may have been more to positions of the CDC and WHO doctors need masks but they don’t work for the general public.
This article was shared on tildes at the time but didn’t get much discussion.
The sixty-year-old scientific screwup that helped Covid kill
Tildes post
I think it also highlights the importance of repeating in research and investigating commonly held beliefs with the goal of ensuring understanding of phenomena.
My layman’s takeaway is that an error in citing tuberculosis research almost a century ago shifted the size of particle was considered airborne by more than an order of magnitude. The original citation was lost over time and the 5 micron size was generally accepted. Some physics researchers have tried to present evidence that viruses larger than 5 microns can be airborne but ran into a lot of pushback from the medical community. This continued through the start of the pandemic.
So for masking that means doctors were close and inside the range for droplets and need masks but distancing could put you outside of the range where droplets can land on you and there’s no need for masks.
I have ran into similar issues trying to find papers about the early work in my field which was just referenced and usually not referenced to the original work but as a mentioned by another researcher.
