It’s not a stretch to say that creating laws and permanently altering the structure of our country might ought to fall under the category of mandatory retirement.

I have a little tattoo on my ankle I got on a trip with an ex girlfriend. I only got it because she was having a big piece done and I was bored. It’s just an off-the-wall zodiac symbol, and not something I would choose now. But I still think it’s pretty looking, and though that relationship went sour the time when I got it was a fond memory that I might not otherwise look back upon

It’s dumb at times, and has some “of the times” humor, but man is it nostalgic for me. I love the sprite style art, and I liked that it went from simple jokes to fully developed characters.

I do think that one of my biggest gripes is the homogenization and centralization of the Internet. It all looks the same, feels the same, and is the same few pieces of content recycled through a handful of different sites.
As for the recipes, I agree wholeheartedly! Though thankfully most of them have a “Jump to recipe” button now ^^

Signing up for something new is surprisingly high friction for many people.
This is the big one for me. I used to be on so many small forums and fan sites and niche news sites, and now I have no idea where those things are. There have been subreddits and communities on tildes/fediverse but it’s somehow…not the same? I’m not sure what exactly the difference is but it just doesn’t feel remotely the same.
Even superficially, I miss how different everything used to look. It’s all the same design principle across the web now, I’m guessing based on accurately curated ideas of what’s “best” but it loses the charm and character.

I’m actually really excited for Mixed Reality headsets - more than I ever have been about VR. So I’m hoping this will enter the mainstream and be affordable a few years down the road

My fiancée is away for her friend’s bridal shower, so I’m taking the day to eat pizza, play video games, drink beer, and do laundry. Don’t have any real plans for tomorrow, but I may work on my upcoming D&D campaign. All around a pretty good weekend this week!

It’s such a blatant fiction - even if they are real people, they are being incentivized to paint a specific picture that may or may not reflect reality. It’s disingenuous at best, and actively harmful at worst. The worse part is that it’s so transparent.

It helps that I know all the lyrics to every song so I was able to have a bit of catharsis. I listened to some Die Antwoord for similar reasons - they have a nice mix of silly and aggressive that I really vibe too when I'm feeling shitty.
Tonight is a Death Grips night. I've been having the kind of anxiety where it's hard to pinpoint the trigger and I just feel chaotic inside, so DG channels that quite a bit. I've also been listening to Kimya Dawson, specifically The Beer and The Competition. She has a way of being honest about her life that makes her so relatable. I think I listened to her on the last thread I posted on as well.
Mixed in with that has been some staples of mine - The Front Bottoms, The Wonder Years, Old Grey, etc.
*Oh yeah I also listened to some Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Pixies

Compare it to the progression of learning in school - you learn easy to digest material that gets you interested, and then you learn how it's actually much more complex.
"Real science" has never been mainstream and it never will be. At least not like entertainment is. And with what we've got now at least people are aware of some more scientific concepts and open to new ideas, which I see as a net positive.
