We created a social media gaming website using Flask and TailwindCSS. We also had to get it operational on the net, which given our IT class is traditionally about computer networking, it was the easy part (besides setting up the web server itself).

Looking back at these I kind of realized that I genuinely miss being active in some of the subreddits I was active in during middle school and high school, and how it feels disappointing to see the website become what it is today. It's almost like a slow betrayal with how reddit has gradually lost what made it seem special, and I didn't realize how bad things have become as I had been using third party clients and old reddit + RES.
While I hope Reddit reverses their decision, I honestly doubt they will.

Now it seems like that problem is solved for the time being, though I suspect it can't continue if the invite system stays in place indefinitely. Of course doing away with that would probably cause the site to need more than one admin, with all of the reddit refugees.
I'm certainly tuning in to see how this goes now :)

I feel like - at least to a degree - what’s going on with the AI hype is sort of a bubble. I’m more interested in what companies are doing in response, personally. Meta as far as I can tell has not done much with their AI recently, Apple is integrating it into iOS and MacOS is ways that make sense, while Microsoft and Google seem to be hedging a lot on it, though indeed 95% of that is marketing.
I don’t expect the AI startups that have appeared in the last couple years to be successful for very long.
