The person above wants to know why you feel that way. Blue tends to be very pro agriculture and the infrastructure it relies on, while Red only pays lip service to "real america" and cuts subsidies behind closed doors.

I went to the Shanghai market! I was visiting a friend and we happened to be in the neighborhood, and his explanation of the phenomenon was intriguing. So we grabbed some ice cream, I hiked up my shirt in Asian air conditioning style, and perused the market.

Parents were covering their displays and turning away as we walked through. So many dirty looks. It was delicious.

I find vapes and joints to be easiest to control. And for the record, I'm very sensitive and prefer a light high. My hits produce very little smoke/vapor compared to pretty much anyone else I've ever smoked with. So when I say it's possible to control for a light high, I mean it. Just take your time with it and wait between hits, even if you don't think you got anything.

Most importantly, they should know exactly what they are consuming. Street drugs are mixed with all sorts of harmful shit. Most obviously, fentanyl is an extremely prevalent and dangerous risk today.

Legalize it, give them access to clean drugs from legitimate sources. They are human too, even if they are making poor life decisions.

You could easily manually hide anything you don't care to see, or set up some extensions to further curate your front page content if unsubscribing from subs isn't enough.

I don't think the issue actually is "difficulty" though. D4 was never really difficult to begin with, even on tier 4.

My old local city subreddit was full of them. Our housing crisis is particularly bad. Southern California, huge demand, pay not raising to match.

It was full of Builder propaganda. Slap a high density building in the middle of single family neighborhoods. Anyone who objected was buried as a NIMBY. Any question on how the street/parking/sewer/electric would support such reckless rezoning was dismissed by a hand wave of "roundabouts and a culture change to biking will solve everything"

Edit - to clarify, you are right that they would also turn to public transit as a solution to "fix" the problems that would arise from throwing high density housing everywhere.

My point is that none of those solutions are ever even half baked when talks of approving/protesting actual proposals to rezoning to high density housing.

That's where the tongue in cheek "if you build it, they will come" quote comes from. Dont think ahead. Build now, create a huge mess with zero plans up front, and stitch together a reactionary fix after the inevitable massive clusterfuck is reality.

My wife is a self employed Psychologist. She spends excessive time fighting with insurance companies over simply honoring claims, even when she called in prior to confirm coverage.

The insurance companies consistently say "their listed coverage on our own insurance portal isn't accurate. Nor is the verbal word of our employees when calling in to verify coverage"

Its all a clusterfuck for mental health providers.

The only real way to get consistent results is to go private pay, and that's definitely excluding the under privileged.

Can anyone give a short description on how to use lemmy?

I tried subbing to lemmy.world, and there's a note that posts won't start popping into your feed until you're subscribed, so I waited a bit.

Seems like my Frontpage is filled with a legion of small, very very niche sub forums. I've been dropping in, blocking like 20 forums in a pass, and giving up.

The sheer amount of Canada specific sub forums is astonishing. Like, I get it, it started as a Canadian centric content, and I think it's great that they have a place that's not polluted by US dominated discussion. But is there a way to just filter all that in one setting, rather than curating constantly like wack a mole?

Edit - Nevermind, I'm an idiot. I thought the gateway into lemmys was lemmy.ca (first link I found a file ago), and you signed up to federated lemmys through that general UI. Went to https://lemmy.world and this is what I wanted. Mystery solved

I've had way too many coincidences for that to be true.

A few weeks ago, my wife and I were watching the last season of Barry, and we randomly had a conversation where we repeated "No ho hank is the best character" a bunch of times, verbally. No Google searches or watching old clips or any kind of related digital trail.

The next day, my Youtube front page was full of "No ho Hank is the best character" titled Mash up videos.

    That's way too coincidental.

And no, my YouTube feed did not usually contain that kind of content. It was all woodworking and PC hardware videos previously.

But now, No Ho Hank is mixed in there because I watched one video... damn targeted advertising.

That's exactly it. From what I remember, one farmer was supplying something like 80% of their chili's for decades. Huy Fong then decided to try to renegotiate their agreement to something shitty, and the farmer walked.

Apparently the farmer had very consistent quality compared to every other supplier Huy Fong has tried, and their product sucks now in addition to shortages due to not having enough supply.

And the farmer started his own Sriracha sauce brand that's scaling up.
