I suppose the only way forward to to live in the moment and appreciate the good days while we have them before we’re forced underground as mole people to beat the heat, lol. (Sorry, comedy is my coping mechanism)

Like NinjaSky mentioned, gene lines come to abrupt stops, it would be shame for mine to do so at the behest of my fear of what I can’t control.

I honestly hope one day I could shake my fear of doom and gloom and impart some wisdom on children of my own. Part of me feels like that is selfish but I know that is just how the world has always worked-human ingenuity to preserve through booms and busts.

These same people the global state of affairs currently relies upon will be disproportionally effected by global climate change. I’m talking crop failures, due sweltering heat waves and droughts. Since the dawn of modern civilization the powers that be rely on “bread and circus” for placating the masses. We’ll what happens when the bread disappears? Complete societal upheavals with mass migrations / civil wars.
Overall, I fear the consequence of local catastrophes ringing on global scale due to the interconnectedness of the modern world on scale we haven’t seen before.

Being responsible for a child in world that feel like it’s becoming more hostile and chaotic just seems crazy to me. But like others have mentioned, the show must go on and if humanity is to have a chance, wise people will need to procreate. (Not saying I’m wise, but I do care deeply about the state of the world and hope to leave it a better place than I found it)

I do understand and feel the innate drive to procreate, especially since I’ve always heard the love for one’s child is like no other; and I’m fortunate enough to have had an up brining the demonstrates what unconditional love is. But, I just can’t shake the feeling of doom and impending societal collapse. The web of interconnectedness of the global economy and its fragility was heavily exposed in 2020.
You make and interesting point with the end of gene lines and I often (incorrectly) assume I will live on into old age (90+). To me, I am the last generation to see the good days, I’m the generation that will bear the burden of solving humanity’s biggest crisis yet-but only if I live on to old age.
I must face the reality that I could pass at any moment and maybe before that time I should instill wisdom on my next of kin before it’s too late. As others have mentioned, if we (those who are aware of the issues and care) give up now, humanity is more doomed than when before.
Again, thank you for the perspective, you have definitely given me a lot to think about!

I decided I was going to get buff. I refused to buy more equipment until I knew I was committed to the craft. A year in I changed my workout schedule to 6 days a week accumulated some serious lifting gear. (Power cage with pulley system, way more plates and dumbbells that adjust to 90lbs)
I’ve optimized my program to 30mins a day, 6 days a week. It’s a modified push-pull split that includes a little legs each day. If you hate leg day you would love this split!
I take a rest week every 6 weeks and lol forward to getting back in the gym each time!

For someone who doesn’t even know how to properly stretch they would be much better served by cardio focused warm up such as 10mins at moderate pace on the elliptical (better for the joints than treadmill). If you’re dead set on weight training with your partner, stick to the machines until you build your neural drive and confidence lifting weights.
Secondly, when it comes to weight training just doing warm up sets in the same working reps range with 50% working weight is sufficient. You’re looking to “grease the groove”.
If you’re focused on weight loss you need to focus on diet, no one could out work a bad diet (calorie in , calorie out) with a focus on high protein to increase the thermic effect of food.
Be easy on your partner, remember you’re their to support her. She will become discouraged if things get too hard too quick !

The entire capitalistic system is dependent on exploitation of the environment and workers.
Privatizing the gains, socializing the losses. I’ve lost all hope.
This was worth the watch as it was well animated and researched. I walk away more informed than I was yet also filled with existential dread.
Thanks for sharing, OP.
