The Cocaine and Rhinestones podcast has me on a deep-deep dive into Buck Owens. I remember him from Hee Haw but never spent time with his music. I'm all in on that Bakersfield sound.

Email can sometimes send me on a link journey but those are my first stops.

I sit in front of a tv for work all day (CNBC here on the trading desk) so I don't usually get into deeper news dives until the afternoon.

(assuming he's fully healed from the cheap shot injury he suffered at the hands of The Cowardly Sergio Ramos in the Champions League final a few weeks ago)

There are some legit avant-garde visuals in there and I think it's great to see on tv.

It might not make 100% logical sense but it sure is pretty to look at.

Do you make a podcast that you want to share with the group?

(While technically self-promotion I'm genuinely curious at the answer. I'll pull the topic if it is out of bounds.)

We've adopted this margarita recipe as our own. The limeade can becomes the unit of measure:
*one can Minute Maid frozen limeade
    *one can tequila
    *half-can water
    *half-can triple sec

Stir in the pitcher. Pour over ice and add a splash of club soda and garnish with a lime wedge.

    It's like goddamn magic.

There are savants, but even those folks practice a ton.

It's spendy, but if you have a plan you should be able to maximize your time.

I'd also recommend taking a project class at a Woodcraft (https://www.woodcraft.com/) or similar if they have them where you live. It's good instruction and exposure to tools and methods that you might not otherwise have.

I'm planning to hop in and catch up on content in August so I can be ready for Battle of Azeroth.

I don't make the time for it that I used to but I still like getting in and questing.

I went from Eleanor Catton's The Luminaries, a giant Victorian-era novel set in gold-rush New Zealand, to the first two Murderbot Diaries novellas by Martha Wells.

The Luminaries started well for me but I got bogged down in the middle and finished it out of obligation. I must have missed something but I haven't done any reading to find out what that might be.
The Murderbot stories were quick and easy, which I needed. The other two novellas are due this year and I'm looking forward to them.

I've got the recent Questlove book, Creative Quest, on right now but I'm tempted to re-try The Three Body Problem instead because I've hopped into sci-fi mode. It didn't stick the first time I tried it.

Do you know David Holmes' work? That might be what you're looking for. If you're already hip to the UK stuff he might be old hat. If not, start with his Let's Get Killed or Bow Down to the Exit Sign. They're terrific.

@Whom is right-on with that Blockhead album. So good.
