Do you really think the 3-letter agencies stopped their mass surveillance after Snowden? The intelligence community absolutely can intercept and catalog whatever they want to see, but that doesn't mean they will share it with DOJ or that it would be admissible as evidence in any eventual trial.

Interestingly enough, the cargo is why the calendar has all of the flying back and forth. They have multiple sets of kit and if it takes more than the 3 days available to ship from what feels like would be the next logical stop, so they fly off to another continent where the other kit has pre-shipped.

What an absolute beauty of a stadium. I'll cry the day they finish tearing it down.

Somehow, this 16 minute video missed the best thing about RFK: The lower bowl seating bowl was on rails and would be rotated to fit either football or baseball configuration. A pleasant side effect of that was that it would bounce like a trampoline when the crowd went nuts. There's no feeling I've ever experienced like being in a packed RFK and literally feeling it shake as the fans sing and jump in rhythm.

I was lucky enough to be in RFK three times with a capacity crowd: Nationals first game, David Beckhams first game in MLS, and USA vs Germany 100th anniversary game. I wish I could have gone to a racist football team game to experience that atmosphere, but they had moved out before I moved to DC.

Towards the end RFK was a pile crumbling concrete that smelled of stale beer and piss, but it had a soul that modern stadiums don't.

I'm really sad to see it go, it's the last (and first!) of an era of multi-use stadiums that were used by both MLB and NFL teams.

That makes perfect sense to me. The slightly "unnatural" way in which non-native speakers form sentences can very easily be confused with the LLM generated text. They both have that distinct feeling "wrong" to the reader. That's a tough one to deal with for sure but I think pretty easily dealt with by having a conversation around how and why the student formed and presented their arguments. Within a few minutes, you will know if they have clunky syntax due to working in their non-native language or are using ChatGPT or a traditional essay mill.

Finally, consider ChatGPT’s writing capabilities. The technology is in the process of eliminating the role of writing assignments in higher education. If it does, educators will lose a key tool for teaching students how to think critically.

As a current MBA student and Adjunct instructor at a community College, I actually don't think this is the problem people think it is.

ChatGPT will write you an essay that on the surface has well reasoned arguments, but a person with appreciable knowledge in any given field will be able to pick it apart and know it is bullshit if they actually read the essay word for word.

As a student, I have used ChatGPT to generate ideas for open-ended prompts, but I could never get away with just turning in what it spits out because the logic it used to reach its conclusions is almost always flawed when you analyze it.

As an instructor, I can tell if a students writing voice resembles their "casual voice" or if they have turned in a ChatGPT word salad. ChatGPT has a distinct style of writing that is very easy to pick up on once you have seen it a few times.

At the end of the day if a student wants to cheat in a 100 level class they can probably get away with it because the prompts tend to be closed and formulaic responses fit the need.

People need to remember that these LLMs are just pattern matching and language generation. They don't think. They aren't sentient. They write stuff that looks right on the surface but crumbles under scrutiny.

I actually view this more of "is using a calculator on a math test cheating?" type of dilemma. A calculator will very confidently give you an answer to a prompt, but you need to understand the concepts at hand to validate that answer and be able to defend it to another person. Similarly ChatGPT is the same. If used correctly, it will accelerate the process, but domain knowledge is required to validate it.

I'd expect McLaren to take a step forward. Only Landos car had the upgrades this last weekend. Once both cars are in the new spec, they should comfortably get double-points.

I really enjoy the ability to use it as a small android tablet as well as a dedicated gaming device. Now when I fly I just throw some movies on the RP3 SD card and only carry one "fun" device with me.

I get on an American Airlines plane without asking any questions because I know there is no way that plane is allowed to operate if it has not been properly inspected and maintained.

The dudes in this propane tank with a window had no such assurances and I think it's fair to take the position of: you knowingly got into a machine that had a high risk of killing you, and it killed you.
