Not to mention that sex work is legal in some places which has been put in place to protect the rights of workers whose bodies are their business. What about manual labour? I don't get the difference either.

    Same here! It wasn’t until an optometrist asked me a bunch of questions about reading and attention span and concentration that I realized it might be a physical problem. Got progressives with relaxing lenses for reading and it has helped a lot.

    This, 100% I think it contributes to real-world tragedies too. Some kid might not find a local white supremacy group to hang out with but you better believe he has friends in an online echo chamber that convince him that it’s a great worldview. It’s a weird combination of being socially isolated but accepted by an online community.

    To me “fate” is just a catch-all term for things the lie outside my control, directly or otherwise. I don’t treat that in a fatalist way, like “oh there is nothing I can ever do about this” but it...

    To me “fate” is just a catch-all term for things the lie outside my control, directly or otherwise. I don’t treat that in a fatalist way, like “oh there is nothing I can ever do about this” but it does help with accepting things as they are on a certain level.

    I agree but I also feel like the article goes somewhere different at the end: I feel like she is advocating a quiet revolution, something more grassroots. I really like what she says about supporting your neighbours and taking care of yourself as much as possible. The houseplant metaphor is nice and I intend to hang on to that one.

    I got into weaving just under a year ago! I have been enjoying it a lot but get frustrated with not being able to spend as much time on it as a like. Small tapestries at this point, but I did take class on rigid heddle loom recently that I enjoyed.
