I understand those reasons and I agree with them. Is just that always before posting I try to search on Tildes to see if what I'm about to say has already been discussed, in line with the philosophy on try to not repeat already discussed topics and not create echo chambers. If I can't search for comments from others, this pre-search will be greatly damaged I think. Sometimes I'll get to find the topic to discuss just by the topic title (like this one, I was thinking on create a topic on the search capacities of Tildes, but now I won't since I found an already discussed topic on that). But other times it will be only on comments and I won't be able to see it, read it, or maybe discuss in that comment something that wasn't talked about. I think that is nice to revive a comment with a good reply and maybe bring back a discussion from years ago (considering that this topic will reappear on some front pages).

That way you avoid the risk of someone accusing you of keeping found objects from others, which in some countries can be considered a crime.
I believe you are well intended and really want to return this switch and I appreciate your proactivity on the search for solutions, but if It were me I would not feel comfortable guarding this for long if I don't get to find the owner really fast. Anyway, hope you can find this person! Good luck!

The feeling I get from coming here is unique. I still go to Reddit and I started going to Lemmy and Squabbles too. But Tildes is something different. It doesn't have the amount of different topic discussion or dive deep into a lot of niche topics, but the discussions are really good and I love this minimalistic forum-like layout heavily organized and centered in texts. I love how I can easily navigate in big threads of conversations also. It's mainly what keeps me coming back. I'm so thankful for this site.

You are right. Lessening the sound of external noise on the street can be a risk. Maybe the sound of isolation I have right now is ideal and I should not be trying to attenuate improve more. But sometimes I don't enjoy listening to music while still hearing external sounds, so the solution should be to not listen to music in those types of situations I guess.

Using iem with ANC on the street

    Hello!

I'd appreciate knowing how is it to go out on the street using an iem with ANC. Especially when you are on a sidewalk next to a heavy-traffic street or when you are on the subway for example. Does the ANC eliminate completely those types of loud sounds? Or they are still present but just not on the same level?
I ask this because I use IEM with foam ear tips but with no ANC. I feel that the foam ear tips normally makes a good seal and isolate conversations next to me or other sounds in my house. But when I go to the street in those places I mentioned the sounds are still somewhat present, although not at the same level as the music I hear. So I was thinking if I could achieve more isolation using for example a ANC iem.
Any insight would be much appreciated thank you!

https://www.tennis-x.com/ I saw someone on reddit linking this site and I loved the layout. Another person also told me that those type os sites follow a "philosophy" specific to a type of web-design layout. It's called brutalist web design (https://brutalist-web.design/). I think that this type of design appeals to people that, like me, like lightweight websites. But maybe this type of design are inviable to todays standards since most site need space and loading time for ads, so that's why there is not a lot of them today. In the past that were more of those type of layouts maybe because there wasn't the practice to put ads on websites.

I agree that Reddit has made bad decisions decisions I didnt like. But until now I didn't felt any of them (besides the mods protests). If I can still use reddit the way I used to I will still use it. I use it a lot on my pc too on old reddit. I keep visiting reddit, tildes, lemmy and squabbles. For me the more the merrier. If someday I can't use old reddit and can't get used to the new reddit, maybe I will stop using it.

SingleFile was the the previous extension I was using for that and I used a lot. But I changed to fireshot because I prefer to have my archives in PDF. Nonetheless SingleFile is indeed pretty good.

Recently I discovered a extension called Fireshot. It captures webpages and save in multiple ways. I love it since I like to archive some webpages. I had trouble with that for a long time but since I discovered this extension I got to solved this issue 99% of the times

The other would be uBlock origin but almost everyone already knows this one. I fear the day that this extension wont work anymore, if this day ever comes.

There is a type of book that is called Encyclopedic novel. Gravity Rainbow was already mentioned here and it fits this type. I imagine that those type of books are some that a lot of people drop it after some time. I read a book like that in recent times. Infinite Jest. It was the hardest book I read ever. It took me over 6 months to finish. Many times I questioned if I should just stop it since I wasn't enjoying it. Maybe I was masoquist sometimes. I feel that I absorbed not even 20% of it. Sometimes I questioned myself if the problem was me or it was the book or both. Until this day I don't know. But from what I've seen is a book that a lot of people find it hard and it gets a lot of discussion. I can understand the effort of trying to write something meaningful and unique that sometimes wont be easy to read, but I wonder if this can have limits. Maybe in the freedom of creation realm it hasn't. I don't know if I wasted my time reading this book or not, but I can say that it was a experience I'll never forget. I certainly need to read this book again (to get more from it) but I don't know if I ever will.

Finally, although I can say that I read all the pages of that book, I don't if I can say that I really got trough it.

I've moved out of my parents house 2 months ago, and the hardest part of living alone for me is learning how to cook. One of the things I have trouble is to know the amount of ingredients I need to use to cook a certain dish for me. It's all very new, but I guess that there is a lot of resources material on the internet to learn how to cook. My biggest problem would it be to get used to cook a lot more than I did when I lived with my parents.
