I wasn't necessarily calling her out for taking the money. I'm just pointing out that she's probably supporting Bloomberg instead of Sanders in this race if she took that much money from him.

Stacey took $5 million from Bloomberg, so probably not her, but your point still stands.

I'm jumping ship from the pure prompt which is a very bare bones zsh theme and am amazed at how snappy this is while being able to keep my aesthetic preferences.

If you use Zsh, try it out. It's so fast and I don't know how. I guess I've been preconditioned to expect these things to run like garbage.

This is part two of a two part podcast, but I think the first part isn't really necessary to grok the important information.

I don't listen to planet money, this was recommended a while back by a host of another podcast I typically listen to.

Disclaimers aside, I thought this was a fascinating discussion on how even if we try our best to be good citizens and recycle, a lot of that effort goes to waste as the process continues "down stream" and we should really be focusing more of our effort in the first two steps of the "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" mantra.

I have a close friend whose collecting all his non-organic trash the past few months and just trying to measure the count and aims to reduce that count the following month. He also is meticulously cataloging each piece and trying to minimize based on patterns, but that's a little much for most people. Still I think just having to confront a large volume of trash would help most people cut down on their waste.

One thing I've personally noticed, is that Japanese candies and foods all come in large bags with the contents then individually wrapped inside.

This is a bit of a chicken and egg problem, in that I find that working out helps tremendously with my depression. A few things I found help are

    • Workout first thing in the morning. I'm not a morning person at all and I felt like a crazy person when I started trying it, but I find that even if I got shit sleep, a workout in the morning will make me a lot less groggy. Plus when you get home from work, you don't feel guilty from just relaxing the rest of the time.
    • Start small, I really mean it. You're gonna hate it if you go all out in the first few days and then will be burnout immediately. I think the right thought is even a tiny workout everyday is better than the zero I've been doing.
    • Don't take your measurements often. I'd say once a week is good, but in the beginning, nothing is going to change. The body takes way too long to show improvement, but it will get there. Checking your weight everyday is just going to discourage you.

I've been playing it on and off for a bit, but I honestly feel like it's becoming one of my favorite games. It's certainly not for everyone, and I'm definitely biased when it comes to anything Kojima shits out, but the core gameplay loop has got me hooked. Just walking around making deliveries is rewarding, and the fights are so engaging with having to worry about managing your items while 8 dudes are throwing electric javelins at you.

And the story, well... it's something so far.

For the past few months I've been using an iOS app called Fitbod for my workouts and honestly been one of the best changes to my fitness. It's really expensive for an app at 60 a year, but so far I've been happy to pay for it.

The key feature is that it builds a workout for you based on available gym equipment and previous workouts.

It isn't perfect by any stretch, the app is pretty buggy in a lot of weird and annoying ways. The UI will often break and you have to just hope that if you restart it in the middle of a workout it won't just lose all your progress.

Sometimes the workouts it makes are way too easy or too hard, but you can alter the weight and reps or replace the set with something else and it will suggest similar exercises.

Still, it's made the gym a lot more fun for me, so I really recommend it to anyone whose struggling with going consistently.

I've also been giving Dorohedoro a shot, but it's been a struggle to get through with the jarring cg character animations (though the background art has been amazing), but the story and world have kept me interested. I think I'll give it another episode before deciding if I'll continue to watch it.
