    Everyone always thinks it's a kernel bug, it's a gcc/clang bug, etc. so it's fun to hear about when it actually was.

    This is the story of CVE-2022-0847, a vulnerability in the Linux kernel since 5.8 which allows overwriting data in arbitrary read-only files. This leads to privilege escalation because unprivileged processes can inject code into root processes.

    Yes! Interstellar is fantastic! Like you said, not a perfect film; there are parts of the story that take away from the gritty reality of it, for the worse (IMO) but between the parts of the story...

    Personally, I use blank lines between blockquotes all the time (even when they're from the same source; in that case I use them to indicate that I'm only selecting pieces of the document). I don't see why this preprocessing step is necessary, especially since users can edit their formatting after posting if they got something wrong. But there's something to be said for intuitiveness of course.

    I've been using the Galaxy Watch for a while, it's really nice. Not sure what kinds of functionality are unique to Samsung phones like mine, but I don't think it's much.

    I'm liking my Galaxy Note 10. The 10 Plus is objectively better value per dollar, but I just didn't want to bump up my budget. Looks like the Note 10 is still in the 500-euro range in the EU though.

    Just found this thread by searching. Man, I'm jealous of your repeater scene! I'm at college in central Illinois, and as you can probably imagine, despite it being a very large campus, the repeaters are 90% older gentlemen from the surrounding rural areas. I can see one of the antennas from my bedroom window as I type this, but it's almost totally dead. I've had one unplanned contact on it, and it's been in my scan list every evening for weeks.

    I'm hoping I can convince my two ham friends on campus to form a miniature midnight net with me, and maybe we can find some other younger people to join us. That said, I've dipped my toes in a few conversations on the repeaters with the older folk around here.
