Apple recently introduced its Classical app specifically tailored to Classical music listeners. I did a month free trial (it’s bundled with their Music subscription if you happen to have one of their devices) and really enjoyed their 9 part podcast-like series “The Story of Classical” as an introduction to classical music for me.

It goes over multiple periods and styles of classical from Baroque to Modern and weaves in commentary/history/instruction on how to listen with a critical ear with music from the period of that particular episode. I’m not a huge fan of their service over-all so I won’t be subscribed past the month trial, but it should be more than enough to get through the mini-series and introduce you to more classical music. The series is well done, but it’s a shame that it isn’t available over podcast for free anywhere or if you don’t own one of their devices.

I recently learned to make smash burgers and highly recommend trying it. The seasoning is your normal salt/pepper but the key is how you cook them. Smash them thin on a very hot griddle or skillet and cook them very quickly for juicy, seared perfection. This is the real secret to why West Coast Americans go crazy for In ‘N’ Out.

I agree with that. Even today, I truly believe that a large number of office jobs are just “busy work.” With some effort we could automate most of it (think data entry, sending emails, etc.) but the sudden numbers of unemployed people would be a much bigger problem for society than having inefficient work processes.

At the end of the day, we as a society need to come to terms with the fact that we really won’t be “needed” after automation grows to a certain degree. That’s fine! I say we set up UBI and allow people to start pursuing their interests (rather than either working jobs they hate just to support themselves or doing something negative with their time). It’s silly to think that no one will be productive without the societal pressure of needing to work 9-5 to support yourself.

Deimos is planning on implementing a "trust" system whereby users with good reputation of useful, on-topic comments that promote discussion have more capabilities within their sub-tilde of the site (trust will be community based, so you could have a lot of trust in ~games based on your comments and thereby automatically "inherit" some type of mod powers only for ~games).
