Vegan lasagna (i.e. no meat) is imo way better than the meaty lasagnas I've had. Usually there is either more types of cheese for the extra flavor/saltiness, it really helps a lot!

I have the Libra 2 here and have been pretty happy with it! Granted, I've never had a Kindle so don't have any point of comparison (besides a 12 year-old Nook), but I keep several hundred books on it and manage them wirelessly via calibre-web, battery lasts through multiple books, and the screen clarity and brightness are pretty nice.

The one I'm listening to is read by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading, and it's pretty good so far (just started book 3). Haven't listened to any others, though, so no basis for comparison! My first time through the books I did read instead of listen, and I would agree that that's usually a better experience for a more complicated world like Wheel of Time has, especially a fantasy world with various names/places/concepts that aren't in English.

In anticipation of the 2nd season of Wheel of Time coming up, I've been re-reading the whole series (well, listening to the audiobooks, technically). I thought the first season of the show was decent (though not perfect), and excited for the second one!

The first time I read the series, it was over maybe 10 years, and the actual books (not audio), as the last few weren't out yet. It's been really interesting seeing what parts I remember and what I had completely forgotten about, especially for the side characters. And listening to the books is nice because I can do it while driving, when I'm mindlessly grinding something in a video game, when cooking, etc.

I've been teaching at a university in America, for about 15 years now, and these days, at least 1/3rd of my students are using some sort of tablet and pencil combo. Most are iPads, but a few do have a Surface or Samsung tablet. The notes apps these days are quite, quite good, they allow copy/pasting of handwritten text, undo/redo, moving items, integrating pictures easily (many will snap a picture with their iPhone, then it syncs right away to the notes app in the tablet -- I think that is a GoodNotes feature? not 100% sure). Also lets you multitask easily, which was not really the case with tablets until just a few years ago.

The main downside to tablets has already been mentioned by several other posters -- if you need specific software, it's often available for PC and/or Mac and/or Linux, but less often on tablets. Sometimes, just not as often. That aside, though, which is fairly field-specific, tablets are definitely a great notetaking/study tool these days, and I would 100% use one if I was a student again!

I would love a sequel to...well, Skies of Arcadia! Maybe that takes place 20, 30 years after the original.

That's a great metaphor with the meat-eater vs. vegan/vegetarian comparison. I like meat, and I do eat it semi-regularly, but I frequently choose vegetarian options if I know I like or prefer those. Chili, for example, I strongly prefer vegetarian, with lots of beans. But I also love nuggets from McDonald's or a good shrimp fried rice. Big picture, I know that if I and others simply reduce meat intake, though, there will be societal and environmental benefits (and health benefits for me, but that's just me).

My guess would be that the author is referencing how home folders have worked on Linux and other Unix-based systems for a while. You can use a ~ as a shortcut for your home directory, so if I go to ~/music it would have different content than if you went to the same directory, because when I type it I'm actually going to /home/myusername/music but you'd be going to /home/yourusername/music instead.

Could be something else, though, just a guess!
