I saw an article the other day of someone who uses a dot matrix printer to get their daily news, so Im stealing that idea.

I found a (40ish year old)printer for really cheap and got it to talk to my computer.. Now I just need to source paper that costs 500% more than the printer in my area, and then Im going to try and write a program that does a few things:

    • check if I slept over at my home the night
    • if I did give me a quick weather overview
    • give me a markets overview
    • remind me of any important dates via google calendar or a separate calendar if thats too much effort
    • give me an article that I sent via a telegram bot to read with my coffee
    • format and print everything around 8am when I wake if Im at home

Im going to try and write everything in Rust because its the higher level language im best at, I hope Ill get somewhere with this project over the next weekend or so.

Chronicle is a good standalone superpower movie? Maybe not entirely superhero, but its done pretty well.

If I really just wanted to zone out and had limited time I got into chiselling and tbh that mechanic could be a timesink all on its own

The sheer effort to reach and eventual feeling of accomplishment felt after reatching it was unlike anything Id ever felt on MC.

If you like the idea of a voxel game but you want a more grown up survival experience, VS is a hard recommendation from me.

I think I recently encountered a power problem on my pc?

The motherboard is nearing 10 years old and over that time Ive lived in fairly humid areas a while.

My PC would start to freeze up whenever I try to something taxing with it and I was starting to lose it because I couldnt ever get the the root issue.

All my other components were fine and tested working in other systems so I was kinda lost.

Just recently I unplugged all of my PSU cables from my motherboard and saw there was a bit of corrosion on the top PSU connector that goes to the motherboard, fixed that and my PC is fine for now.

Maybe its a very rare issue? Maybe it could help you?

I've been on a pretty long gaming break for a while actually...

My previous gaming binge was Factorio Space Ex mod and Id gotten to about midgameish before I had to take a week break for work.... Unfortunately that kind of got me out of the zone completely so when I returned to the game I just couldnt get back into the groove of it so maybe Ill try to pick up where I left off some day.

That said I love the base game (enough to commit to playing space exploration), its just great in how I can spend an hour (or five) to make my one factory work optimally and then to be able to see the results and know that if I ever need to expand itll be easy to just copy paste and know wverything will just work.

So I've finally gotten over my gaming break; and I started Vintage Story today, what some people might call a hardcore 'minecraft' clone.
So I'm speaking from when I last played Minecraft, around when beta was released, but the first thing I realised about an hour into VS is just how beautiful the game is for a voxel game. Theres just so much variation in biomes and plants and textures that at some points its pretty easy to gloss over the fact that the game is based on a 1x1x1 grid.
Getting into the game; it HARD at first. I had a moose curbstomp me because I was close to its young I think and then I pretty much got spawn camped by a flock sheep of all things.

There are various hardcore elements that I really appreciate with VS that I felt (obvs could be outdated by now) really just completes what minecraft promised in a survival game. Im 4 hours in and it STILL feels like im barely surviving. I went out mining for my first copper ore, but that meant I wasnt foraging enough fresh food to keep my satiety up. (I know I should start farming but I'm still looking for a better base location than my hobo cave)

I feel a bit like Forrest Gumps friend.

Onions were on special a while back and I was low on cash. So my immediate choice was to buy about 10kg of onions.

So far Ive done airfryer onions (not too bad as a side dish), lots of caramelised onions, that also led to onion marmelade, then onion soup, I pickled some of the onions, Ive made onion pastries and stuffed onions.

Im just happy I dont like my coworkers, because they definitely dont like me anymore.

Drop your fave onion recipes because I just went shopping and they were still on special.

I've always been interested in playing system shock, downloaded it a few times to see how it is but the control system just frustrated me way too much, so this weekend I saw that there is system shock remake and I knew I had to try it out.

So far only got to the Research level so I've barely started but the semi retro aesthetic and gameplay is really a nice change of pace from modern games.

I have tried to keep away from spoilers and mostly succeeded, but one thing that I did pick up, instead of spoiling anything (I hope) is that some of the books are narrated by the Lady? I think? It would be so amazing seeing the story unfold from her point of view if that is so.
