    Mine works perfectly fine without internet — enphase 14 panel system. The only need for internet is for monitoring energy production (if you want to). But my internet has been down many many times...

    The only need for internet is for monitoring energy production (if you want to). But my internet has been down many many times and my solar still works. AND the monitor they installed has a local web UI.

    Have you asked what happens if your internet goes down? Cause worst case if they sell you something with connectivity but it will work without internet, just “misconfigure” the ssid on the solar. Or pihole it.

    It’s been the toughest part of my life so far. I’ve gone through the depths of suicidal ideation and the highs of “I missed you daddy!”

    For me it’s a daily struggle of keeping these damn things alive and trying to feel like I’m doing a good job. It’s very easy to look back at the end of the day and remember all the things I got wrong. All the ways I could’ve done better. I rarely if ever feel like I’m being a great father.

    Which I say so that my wish to all you fathers out there has some context: Happy Father’s Day! I hope you feel like a great father ~~ today ~~ every day!

    I’ve noticed in the past year (and I’m guilty of this) shorter and less thoughtful answers creeping into tildes. I continually vote for conversational answers and topics though 🤷

    I was shy my first trip to France. But this trip, my partner took us to a grocery store in the country side and said “we need meat, cheese, and bread. Go order some at the counter.” And...

    I was shy my first trip to France. But this trip, my partner took us to a grocery store in the country side and said “we need meat, cheese, and bread. Go order some at the counter.” And unfortunately when I said “Pardon ma francaise je sais seulement un petit peu. Parlez vous englaise peut-etre?” They said “non” with a smile and it was all downhill (from an embarrassment standpoint) from there.

    What did help actually was staying in a dairy farm outside Brussels: the farmer spoke English, Flemish, and French. They were much more forgiving of my lack of vocab and even complimented me. Did wonders for my confidence.

    But if you’re asking accent, I have a thick French accent. Like someone trying to speak English with a British accent 🫠
