I also have Spotify (family pays for it) but I use YouTube Music because it's included in my YouTube Premium subscription, and I have faith in the platform... It does seem to be getting better over time!!

I once set my McDonald's drink cup on the workbench in my garage. A visitor who was at the house, who happened to be a smoker, discarded his cigarette butt into the drink cup, which still had my beverage in it (I didn't see him do it). He even put the lid and straw back onto the top of the cup, so you couldn't see what was inside of it. I ended up nearly finishing the beverage, without knowing that there was a cigarette butt in it. I found it crazy that I didn't even taste it. Thankfully, I didn't get sick. Your comment reminded me of that, haha.

Interesting video. I myself am not a big fan of the Netflix platform, precisely because of this "long form content" fixation that they have. I don't watch a lot of movies because I don't like stuff that drags on, which is why I tend to stick with YouTube, and shorter series shows. I also really do miss having satellite television. it's really going to be interesting to see the offerings of streaming sites and on-demand content sites in the near-term.

I've been listening to the smooth jazz instrumentals playlist compiled by Pekka Martikainen. You can find it on Spotify. There's so many great, easy listening tracks on that playlist. My favourites are the ones without saxophone or trumpet, usually. There's just something I really love about jazz without brass... I need to refine my googling skills in order to find a treasure trove of this stuff haha.

Reality is interesting in the way that you just sort of plop into life... You could have been a mosquito, or a cat, but here you are. I often sometimes feel frustrated that the experience of life is attached to my body, and that I cannot escape from that fact. If life really is a simulation, I don't think that detracts from its legitimacy. The truth is that you can never really know if anything outside of yourself is "real"... But you can be definitely sure that you're real, so there must be more to it, right? The article was a good read.

Great video. Personally I have no problem with targeted ads. I'd rather see an add for a cool new product I'm likely to buy, rather than some dumb ad for "hot singles in my area". The era of online ads before algorithms and personal data being available to companies was irritating, and I think targeted ads are a step in the right direction.

Monitor your caffeine intake (if you do consume caffeine) and take note of how it affects you. This was a big factor for myself, for a time. I tried 8 months caffeine free, and I didn't find my sleep patterns any worse or better. But afterwards, I did find that I had to maintain regular caffeine consumption for a decent level of tolerance to it. Also, it's helpful to abstain from high amounts of caffeine before bed. A cup of tea is probably fine, but a Red Bull or a coffee is probably not a good idea. But the more caffeine you consume regularly, (at least, I've found, for me) the more tolerant to its negative sleep effects you will become.

Where I'm from, municipal waste must be divided into four categories: recyclable paper products, recyclable glass / plastic / metal, food waste, and of course garbage (basically anything that isn't hazardous that also cannot be recycled). It's been this way for a long time, too. Kind of crazy to think that in certain parts of the world, this type of waste management is considered "ambitious"... Good on them for starting it up, though!! Hey, I think we should spend more resources preserving and distributing leftovers instead of composting them. So much perfectly fine food is wasted everyday. We should tap into that resource!!

I think it's a neat idea to truncate the URL. URLs seem antiquated, in my view. I feel like someday, domain names and URLs are going to disappear, or at least become a more simple, user-friendly form of what they are today. Shorter addresses, with WAY less characters, more plain language words, with no colons, backslashes, and the like. I feel like this is sort of moving in that direction. Not in the backend, but at the very least to the end user...

I live in a four bedroom house with my parents and brother and sister. My bedroom is the second smallest of the four, but its size is good enough for me (I have no partner). I happen to have a large(ish) closet, and a large picture window which is nice. I've got enough room in my bedroom for a queen size bed, a dresser (with a TV mounted to the wall above it) and a computer desk with my PC. I also have a small refrigerator for drinks (I drink a lot of soda... haha). I used to have a bunch of flags hanging on my wall, and a few posters of my brother's band, but I recently took them all down for a more clean, streamlined look... I have to say: I'm liking it!

My brother and sister and I have our own bathroom to ourselves near our bedrooms. We have a decent sized kitchen, dining room, living room, and a basement. We grew up here, and for the most part I think we all love living here together.

We are all homebodies, so we enjoy the privacy that living in the country affords. However, it sucks needing to own a car. Cars are expensive... Also, the Internet connectivity options are very limited here. No fibre, no cable... (I'm keeping a close eye on SpaceX's Starlink...)

The plot of land we live on is about 4 acres, and it's a 15 minute drive from the nearest town with a grocery store. We have a large deck (that me and my brother helped our Dad build) and a pool in the backyard. We also have a gazebo on the deck, which is nice!

My advice: if you're looking to get a new home, or even an apartment: look out for cell signal, and Internet connectivity options: without a doubt you are going to need both of those things at some point.
